The rain finds its way through the dilapidated roof

A steady dripping on the worn concrete below

In the corner of the room amid machines long broken

A handful of old screens dimly glow, idle in anticipation

Shakey green lines burst forth from them, codes from a bygone age

Text pours over the damaged monitors and then stops

With the last line of code the remaining machines shut down

Their rest well deserved and as they sleep
something long forgotten

Approaches the abandoned Earth from the Crystalline skies above

A burning comet
Of violet and blue
Fell from the heavens

In the frozen twilight
It crossed a sleepy sky
And landed in the mountains

Its luminous trail
Etched into the minds
Of those few below

For save distant stars
Light had not yet entered
The sphere of the earth

Curious the peoples gathered
To an ethereal crater
The resting place of that fallen star

Amidst the smoke and faint light
They found a women
Whose face was that of the cosmos

She was asleep
And would be for some time
But upon her awakening

Would our own sun rise
Bringing us out of the darkness
And the grip of primordial things

To the dawn of a brave new age
More wondrous and terrible
Than any that have come before

It's a lonsome world
Decayed, full of rot
And you the prince of it all
I will not be here for long
So in the time I yet remain
You must decide
Who it is you will be
For your enemies are naught
But destruction and darkness
And they will come for you
Once I am gone
Spreading like a sickness
As they did long ago
The heroes of old are gone
Their statues lie in rubble
No one remains to save you
Save for yourself young prince
And in time
You will know your own strength

Oh,
Do the petals float
In the breeze
On hills remote
Bright and vibrant
Though unaware
On their breif lives
No thoughts they spare
Oh how I wish
To be like they
Not fearing change
Or life's decay
Yet I worry
And so often so
I don't cherish the world
Or people I know
As I look to the hills
Covered in snow
Where no flowers bloom
Or green things grow
I shed a tear
But smile too
For they will return
And be made new
And so shall I
Be renewed
With springtime showers
And morning dew

A stillborn visage
Sits in the night
Beneath the old moon
A burning twilight
A solemn face
Veiled in the stars
Descends from beyond
the retrograde Mars
It does not speak
Nor open its eyes
Yet still it lingers
Before the sunrise
Which since its arrival
Will no longer come
An omen long set
Of terrors far flung
And when it does wake
To gaze down below
Naught shall remain
But ashes and snow

The fire is old
It has been burning for a long time
It flickers and sways
Ever dimming
And indeed soon it will go out
And returns to the gentle darkness
Of an everlasting night

Something sinister there resides
In the crevices and craters
Of that ancient satellite
Perhaps it has always been there
Or perhaps it was sealed there
In ages long since past
Regardless I get a shiver
Directly down my spine
On cloudless nights
When the moon is full

For I know it to be empty
