Your big round eyes stared lovingly at me
I felt a spark of love for you at first sight
You keep me company whenever I am lonely

Even when you act naughty
I could never be mad try as I might
Your big round eyes stared lovingly at me

Your fur is the color of a moonlit sea
Your eyes like glowing emeralds at night
You keep me company whenever I am lonely

You're the inspiration for my poetry
Almost every poem I write
Your big round eyes stared lovingly at me

Right now you are sleeping upon my knee
Dreaming peacefully, eyes closed tight
You keep me company whenever I am lonely

When first you opened your eyes gently
Your big round eyes stared lovingly at me
I felt a spark of love for you at first sight
You keep me company whenever I am lonely

my false teeth were giving
me a lot of curry
so I ripped them out of my mouth
in a flurry of a hurry

the dashed things
braced every bit of my gums
which was hampering
and impeding all of my hums

the teeth now lie
in the bathroom sink
as they've pushed me
to the ruddy brink

though I cannot talk properly
without them in
at least I'm able
to muster a crooked grin

they are in need of some
urgent aligning work
which will be done
by the dental mechanic in Bourke

sipping soup and slurping jelly
will be my lot
as the false teeth keep going on
with a lot of Tommy rot
2016 shall be a time to remember
more especially a date in November

the masses shall celebrate all over the nation
they'll be relieved of their primary aggravation

in the driver's seat a new face will be behind the wheel
with him leading the nation happy bells will peal

the people will take back their treasured constitution
they'll be feeling less like they are in destitution

stars and stripes flying so grandly once again
gone from the White House the donkey's stain

Democrat majority no more holding sway
twill be a marvelous Republican flag waving day

fifty states of America in delirious ecstasy
an end coming to the Obama odyssey
This piece was written, at the request of an American friend, who is a staunch Republican supporter.
the absence of good rain fall
has changed the countryside's look
bare patches and dry stubble
are all that remains
in her loneliness
she sought warm consolation
beneath the sun's kiss
along
the river's edge
waterfowl did forage
among moss covered pebbles
few morsels were unearthed at this place
their search for pickings was futile
thence they flew to the dam
where clams would come
along
you're bound to be a hater
should people treat you badly
for hate is a deep seated feeling
which constantly gnaws and gnaws

one can empathize
with a hater
they bear the lacerating scars
of pain
which lodge in their reminder chambers

hate is a feature
we are told to repress
yet the hate we possess
isn't easy to suppress
we all hate something
this we must confess
things in our lives
can make a nasty mess

the lectures on hating others
are a waste of time
for those of us
who've been afforded
not such a pretty time

hate is an emotion
which embeds like grime
it cannot be erased
as it is
as profound as a crime

everywhere on this immense planet
haters reside
and the lot of them are barracking
for the hater's side

hate if you will
as you've swallowed
a hurtful pill

for those who've genuine love in their hearts
surely wouldn't keep upsetting your carts
Said the lawyer to his client...
you'll be locked away
for all the misdeeds that you've done
ripping your business partner off
has bought you well undone

Said the client to his lawyer...
you've mounted the best defense
that you could
it is now time for me
to be incarcerated at Dartwood

Said the lawyer to his client...
there is no chance of an appeal
a ten year sentence
is your deal
that's what you get
for being such a heal

Said the client to his lawyer...
have you no criminal stains
upon your wig and gown
I've been told that you're
the shiftiest lawyer in town

Said the lawyer to his client...
the judiciary hasn't caught
me out yet
but in the future it might
find something on me
that is a good odds on bet

Said the client to his lawyer...
none of us is above the law
and one day you'll be locked
behind a set of cast iron doors

Said the lawyer to his client...
yes! I must admit
over the past twenty years
I've been involved
in some shady ****

Said the client to his lawyer...
we've both chosen
to follow a path of shame
and a judges gavel
will always bring an end
to all illicit games
