The last time he came home, a month ago,
I saw his eyes gleaming,
But this time when he came home,
His sight left everyone grieving.

The last time he left, he told me,
That he would come back safe and sound,
He did came back the way he promised,
But wrapped in a tri-colour, his soul wasn't around.

He called me last night,
To ask if everything was fine,
I asked him why he was worried so much,
He told me that he had to, afterall I was his Valentine.

I realised that the clock had long ago struck twelve,
And today, love was the only motto,
I went across the house towards a shelf,
To take a good look at our wedding photo.

Then he went on to talk,
About our two beloved daughters,
About how excited they were to see him home,
And how badly he was missing their laughter.

There came a time when I wanted to end the call,
As I knew the night was falling fast,
I couldn’t help but hold on to it,
As the very next second, I heard a deafening blast.

I shouted his name over the phone,
As I desperately wanted to hear his voice,
But within seconds his phone went off,
And it left me without a choice.

An hour later I got a call from his colleagues,
And I saw it coming from the start,
They gave a call to inform me,
That India had lost a braveheart.

The phone fell from my hand,
As the news turned me numb,
I didn’t even know how to react,
As I was struck dumb.

It was hard for me to believe,
That on a day where love was being celebrated,
A fellow Indian who was brainwashed,
Decided to give his country a gesture of hatred.

At the crack of dawn,
While the entire nation was screaming “It's wartime!”,
A few of his colleagues carried his coffin,
As he left home one last time.
This poem is based on a true incident of Neeraj Devi, wife of late CRPF jawan Pradeep Singh Yadav who was martyred during the Pulwama terror attack on 14th Feb 2019. She had called her husband and was having a conversation with him in the middle of which a blast happened and took her husband's life. It was a harsh way for our country and for Neeraj to realise that even on a day where people express their love, there are some idiots who just wouldn't care a **** about it.

Kids splashing a puddle,
A couple sharing a cuddle,
A village getting a filled up well,
The soil below giving out a beautiful smell.

The cool weather and the raindrops chilled,
You feel them and your stress gets killed,
You prepare some tea and fill up the mugs,
Sit by the window and listen to the bugs.

If your day is going bad and your mind is at a
freeze,
Open the window, sit back, and feel the
monsoon breeze,
I mean, afterall, this is the time to forget life's
jitters,
To sit back with your loved ones and enjoy a
plate full of fritters!

From taking pictures to going for a walk,
Maintain your silence and let the nature talk,
For it and only it can soothe all your pain,
It's June, and the channel it uses, is the RAIN!
Had written this earlier during the monsoon, but posted it now as corona is making me feel homesick with nothing else to do.🙂

Twinkle twinkle, you little star,
You don’t deserve this world, by far.
For you got killed with such brutality,
By a few who can’t be questioned about their mentality.

You got dragged into something you could barely
understand,
The aftermath of which left you with a broken hand,
They dispatched you at a dump, cold and dead,
After the sadistic thought of seeking vengeance struck
their head.

Maggots had fested your body,
Rodents had bitten your leg down to bones,
How could they even fathom something so dastard,
Those men without backbones.

As you laid there in the dump,
Your eyes gouged out.
As it reflected your helplessness,
A cleaner saw it and let out a shout.

As the news spread across the nation,
Every citizen might have had a similar notion,
‘Twinkle twinkle, you little star,
You don’t deserve this world, by far!’
Twinkle,a young toddler who hailed from Aligarh, India was brutally tortured and killed by two men in a fit of rage over a petty issue. The brutality was such,it left the nation shell shocked.
