First comes Winter crisp and strong,
snowflakes dripped in gentle song.
Masqueraded beneath bitter frost,
mournful of something forever lost.
Bewitched beneath her powdery white,
brisk day recedes to bitter night.

Yet a frozen tundra never stays,
as Spring appears to her dismay.
From frigid ground her blossoms bloom
no longer sealed by Winter’s doom.
Sunlight seeps through frozen cracks
Awakening a world dipped in black

Bathed within a morning glow,
Summer sweeps in to steal the show.
Golden hues of dazzling light,
untouched by the murk of twilight.
Blazing, scorching, her embers glow
breathing life to the world below.

Murmured whispers lace the air
at glimpse of Autumn tall and fair.
Gazing upon the littered leafs
their rusty tints show life so brief
Knowing that Fall will succumb to snow,
she braces herself for Winter’s blow.

Yesterday I saw,
the sun slip between two clouds.
Swift as you, my love, have gone,
yet I remain upon the ground.

You live amongst the flowers now
where bumble bees do buzz.
In honeysuckles, willow trees,
and dandelion fuzz.

I listen for you in the wind,
in every wistful sleep.
My love for you a lullaby
a melody to keep.

This summer silence haunts me still
the humming birds won’t hum.
Ever since the sky
stole away my sun.

For I have heard the great poets,
and I know this to be true,
that if beauty lives in kindness,
then my beauty lives in you.

I have seen this world in every light
and the gloaming that it brings,
but my darling you are emerald groves,
the amber gold of spring.

May not your soul be weary,
for after every bitter frost,
blossoms bloom in melodious tune,
and you're never truly lost.

Wherever this world may take you,
and of all the things you’ll see,
every night may the beat of your heart,
bring you back to me.

Just know I am beside you,
through every jagged shore,
life’s piercing thorns,
and all you may endure.

For you are never alone,
or on your own,
this much I know is true.
For if beauty lives in kindness,
then you'll find me within you.

They come to me at night, between the dusk and dawn
Breathing in my name as a long forgotten song.
I can feel the darkness pulling, nails tearing at my skin
This twilight world surrounds me as I slowly drift again.
Right there beside me, as I dance this dance once more, the creatures of the shadow world welcome me back; impossible to ignore.
My voice is gone, there is no scream, through my lips only silence seeps.
I suppose that's why they call it a most terrifying sleep.
Cement courses through my veins stopping at my heart,
their silent please and horrendous screams may tear my brain apart.
Again the sun will rise as it does each dawn,
and with it one by one they return from once they've come.
The tale doesn't end here, just wait for the absence of light,
and once more I'll be visited by the creatures of the night.

You tell me that you love me,
but that’s not what this is.
It’s obsession.
It’s possession.
Time and time again.
You are toxic to my thoughts,
poison to my heart.
Oh how you love to build me up; to watch me fall apart.
With every passing day,
with each passing time
it breaks my heart to wonder
if you were ever really mine.
You told me I was beautiful with each intoxicated breath,
but never once did a sober thought reach me through your head.
I was your escape, but drugs were your demise.
Taking something beautiful
and dressing it in lies.
It’s killing me slowly that you’re still on my mind.
With ocean eyes and venomous lies how’d I make it out alive?
