call me at the midnight hour by the rainy window
we will watch the blue stars come alive
shooting down
into the late december sea
When I met you
You took my breath away
In retrospect
I should have just walked away
And started breathing again

We were misfits
the neglected *******
of a backwards world
that rejected us
not because we were sick
demented or dangerous
but because we didn't prescribe
to a preconceived notion
of what a functioning citizen was.

Not rotten enough to spoil
behind the bars of a prison
just competent enough
to work menial jobs
and drown our sorrows
at the corner pub.

We swallowed this hard truth
the same way we drank our shots
with no chaser
and at times it burnt
maybe even made us tear up
but we never let it beat us
(too strong for that)

We were beautiful
resilient beasts
that could carry the weight
of the world upon our shoulders
and it was heavy
but we would tell ourselves
"doesn't every world need an atlas?"
so we went on holding up the sky
when no one asked it of us.

She is going.
I imagine her on the plane, mind brimming with possibilities and anxieties
She’s probably wearing those hippy pants with the beaded drawstring and the red elephant print
I know she’s typing away on her laptop, chronicling her unprecedented adventure

She is doing.
Everything we say we’ll do on late nights with that sense of invincible potential
She overcame the lingering doubt, the pessimistic thoughts that loiter in our minds
and trash our belief in possibility

She is being.
She is living.
She is trying to be more than just a name scrawled in the universe’s book, an afterthought.
She will be a page, a chapter.
She will do more, she will be more, she is more.

The tears are yours,
the pain is mine
The wounds are yours,
the blood which runs out?
Mine.
The fears are yours,
the trials are mine
The problem is yours,
Just who the hell am I?
Pain won't go away;
It will forever stay this way

Until the night he holds you close

You realized it's just an act,
there you have the well know facts

Loving him was a waste of your night,
He wasn't willing to hold you tight
I see you, standing so humble in the light of success.
Yet this very gleam can also be blinding.
You only see the shadows left behind,
hiding in the crevices of your imperfections.
Deeper
             and
                     deeper you descend,
until your glorious light is a mere dot in the distance.
And in that horrid pit you forget that you belonged
not in the shadows, but in your own brilliance.
Extending my hand, I call down to you,
"Climb back to the wonderful glimmer that you see in the distance."

But from below you shake your head, seemingly content in your darkness,
believing you are unworthy of the light that you yourself created.
Inwardly I weep, to see how you've forsaken yourself, thinking the light is mine,
It is not!
and never shall I rest, until you climb out to see your own wonder...............

Even now.... I remain awake..... quest unfinished.... soul tiring..... but....
              Continue
                               I
                                  must.
And so I shall.

When the norm is your night
and your mind operates in blackness,
Where do you stand when the sun rises?
The sun has fallen beyond the horizon as night ushers in the darkness.
You sit alone, cloaked in the weak glow of the nearby lamp.
                                                                                                                                     When blackness beckons.
Your small world of light is oppressed by the surrounding shadows.
Thoughts grow bleak, the want for sleep replaced with swelling fear.
                                                                                                                                                 As sadness lingers.
This lonely siege from the horrors of the void seems without end.
Never in this life have you been so lost, so impossibly alone.
                                                                                                                                                      I harbor hope.
For this night, as any other, is always darkest before the dawn.
Until the glow of early morning shines, I will stand by you.
                                                                                                                                                Through this pain.
