Memories

Strangers with memories,
that’s all we are.
Like waves in the ocean,
that drift apart with time.
Carried our separate ways,
following a different current.
Strangers with memories,
that’s all we’ll ever be.

Don’t you find it odd, my dear,
what teens have come to fear?
They fear themselves, their own ways,
anxious at the thought of school every day.
So much pressure just to be
something the world wants to see.
Defined by the numbers on a scale
and acceptance letters in the mail.
Be as pristine as what is seen
on the glorified movie screen.
They focus less on self appreciation;
instead count calories and accept starvation
Talents are useless and don’t matter,
unless they help you climb the social ladder.
Quantity over quality when it comes to friends,
popularity defines you in the end.
They’d rather write their last note
and swallow too many pills down their throat
Climb up high and take their last stride
because from society they can’t hide.
Don’t you find it strange, my dear
that this problem is so near?
Even when teens have come this far,
they’d rather die than be who they are.
And yet no one’s reaching out
to tell kid’s what life is really about.
"A world so hateful, some would rather die than be who they are."

you're nervous
'take a drink, it'll calm you down'

you're nervous
'here, take a hit, a little **** will do ya good'

you're nervous
'come sit next to me, I'll make sure nothing bad happens to you'

now you're drunk
now you're baked
now you're being touched, felt, caressed

but it doesn't matter.
you're no longer nervous.
you can't feel.
you don't care.

you're exactly what they want you to be
no longer timid
no longer shy
no longer *nervous

Time scars all with the wounds they were said to heal
Sure the marks not visible, but the pain is ever so real
Staring at the hands that mend my fate
Circadian rythum thrown off is it too early or too late?
Half or a quater of my past an electrical impulse away
Memories faded by time but the pain is here to stay
The smell of your clothes, a nostalgic aroma
Time heals all wounds as these scars get older

THE COFFEE

Swirling and swirling,
that was how the coffee went
as I stirred it,
wishing at the same time
that I could go into the whirlpool
and just drown.

And I drank the coffee
without cooling it,
not caring if it burns my throat.
I felt it trace a warm trail
on my esophagus
and scatter on my chest.
It finally reached my heart
which has been cold for so long.
The feeling was comforting.

You walk down the street,
You said you won't be long.
But as the hours pass by,
They don't notice your gone.

The rain falls down hard,
Freezing you to the core.
Try to block out the words;
Rude. Dumb. *****.

Words echo in your head,
Each causing you more pain.
Getting away from the hurt
Is worth a little rain.

You sit on a bench
In the dark all alone,
Remembering the days
When this place felt like home.

You wonder what changed,
How they think this is right.
Wondering if they worried
When you left home tonight.

You walk down the street,
You said you won't be long.
But you left with your things,
And you're forever gone.

Eyelash Wishes
My Wish

Eyelash Wishes
Today an eyelash fell on my wrist,
and with my breath it sailed
on a wish.
That my heart will one day be
a little candle flame,
a faint hopeful spark,
to someone just as lost in the dark
as I am.
(Working on learning to love myself.  It's really hard, but I've at least started to.  You really do have to love yourself to love someone else, I know that now.  So I'm rekindling.)

i exist somewhere between the kick drum and the snare

i am the blood thundering in our veins

i am the rhythm that gives us life

i am the 375 nanometers of ultraviolet light shining down on you

i am the space between the notes and the silence before the drop

i am oscillation, reverberation, undulation of bassline

i am rattling ribcage from excess decibels

i am titinnitus waiting to strike.

3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine,  Lysergic acid diethylamide,  tetrahydrocannabinol, ethanol, benzoylmethylecgonine; choose your poison so that you may enjoy me better

i am the sweat that slicks our skin and keeps us cool

i am the longing look that leaps from eye to eye

i am mellifluous melody, motivator of movement, master of mind.

i am the sea of strangers you find yourself lost in, minimally clad bodies moving in ways you didn't know were possible.

i am the fire-poi spinner, the LED hula-hooper, the melbourne-shuffling madman, the obnoxious bro, the ancient hippie, the obviously underage girl, the idiot overdosing in the corner, and the person wearing more pony beads than clothes.

i am the rave.
