Elliott's Window Oct 2019
You've learned the way that light knows
Through windows, cracks, and doors
To gain my heart from out my chest
And offer me all yours
inspired by the sun
and someone just as bright

Self-Fulfilling
Elliott's Window Apr 2019
I can’t quite believe inertia,
One day this ball will stop
Stop me from the future
Held so dear by you
Your view paints it like crystal
But I’ve been fooled before
By tarot cards behind the bars
Where I drank till my doom was true

Self-Flagellation
Elliott's Window Apr 2019
God’s way isn’t pain,
That’s not what we believe
Take that needle from your brain,
It will only make you bleed

Discomfort is your friend,
But your knife cuts too deep
Don’t search for needless wounds,
Life gives them out for free

God looks on you with love,
So you can do the same
Recognizing still,
There’s things that ought to change
frustration at the idea that selflessness = self-hatred

The Quality of Being Loved
Elliott's Window Apr 2019
You’ve made substance out of textures,
painted bones from fragile skin
Implied the world into being,
a home for me again
I’m rooted in the dirt and sheathed in keratin
But living now just for the mist that quietly descends
Keratin is a key structural element in reptile scales and the outer layer of your skin - from Wikipedia

Leather Cushions
Elliott's Window Apr 2019
Sitting on an island
Between slumber and work,
Tuning into all the waves that pass me by
I’ve made my big decision
Reason firm set in my mind
But diluted by the breaking of the tide

Stubbornness
Elliott's Window Apr 2019
Some virtues don’t make a good rule of life
My mailbox knows this is true
He’d no need to add to damages paid
Had he moved aside,
And let that car through
a poem about something I possess in large quantities, but rarely know how to use
