I'm falling back asleep again

Dreaming of the greenest grass

Violently I'm woken up

I realize that I'm still in class

I'm wondering what I'm doing here

As I'm staring at the clock

The hostility seems to grow

With every tick and tock

As I'm walking through the hallway

I hear a little cough

"That shirt don't say Badin kid

You'll have to take it off"

Then I see a balding man

The source of my despair

"It can't be in the middle kid

You'll have to change your hair"

"And what's that writing on your arm

No, that just won't do

Go over there and wash it off

And also change your shoes"

My creativeness is leaving me

It's coming out as drool

"But Open House is coming up

You must promote our school"

My hair is almost all gone now

You can't recognize my face

Why'd they make me do this

I think I hate this place

I'm waking up from class again

The teacher calls my name

But he's looking at a different kid

We all look the same

What have they done to me

I wonder as I hear the bell

I'm not an individual

This place might just be hell
Lady of Silence
from the winsome cage of
thy body
rose
        through the sensible
night
a
quick bird

(tenderly upon
the dark’s prodigious face
thy
voice
         scattering perfume-gifted
wings
suddenly escorts
with feet
sun-sheer

the smarting beauty of dawn)
She's in her room trying to write a song about you.
Which she does for very few.
Crumpled papers cover the floor.
She doesn't know you don't love her anymore.
Her pen runs out of ink.
And you're on the brink- of lying.
She scribbles a heart around your name.
And you're here to break it, just the same.
You quit lying, and tell.
Her heart's still chiming that bell.
Tell her that you have to go.
And now you're her foe.
She tears up every memory of you.
And you move on to another girl, who wants you.
Years later, you catch a glimpse of this beautiful lover.
And you can't help but hover, staring.
This girl was different than the one who's heart you broke long ago.
Now, she's got a lot to show.
You had your chance.
Just watch her dance.
She took the leap and then built her wings on the way down.
But as she fell, she lost her crown.
Tumbling through the air,
She caught every stare.
As she transformed before your eyes.
And disclosed all the lies.
Her wings flooded out behind her.
A love, in all hearts, she did stir.
As she flys through the sky,
she waves goodbye.
To the world she once adored.
She knew in her mind, there was something more.
And now she embarks on her endless flight.
To the one world that will fill her life with light.
That risky chance she took.
And before she jumped she did not look.
Before out eyes, she changed her life.
But, for good? or for evil?
