Gravity
Elena Clair May 2015
I stare at the lips
Belonging to strangers on the train
None of them draw me in
The way that yours do

Mass Blooming
Elena Clair Aug 2014
Your presence falls on me
Like  heavy rain
On the dry terrain

After months of drought
Causing a mass blooming of colourful emotions
I never thought I would feel again
THROWBACK.

J
She possessed a contagious smile
And peace that the world couldn't comprehend
A pretty collection of sunglasses
And generosity which never ends

She touches souls
Allows us to begin again

Your love is like an ocean
Elena Clair May 2014
Your love is like an ocean
It never ends
From the surface, it dazzles
It is wide, but calm
It reflects light and warmth
A frightening and exciting adventure
Which is ever-changing
Ever-constant
It is deep, filled with so many mysteries
Yet left for me to discover
It is eternal, from the day the world began
to the day it ends
Just like the ebb and flow
Of the waves

So let your waters inspire me, envelop me
Let me swim deeper into the depths
And learn to find your secret places
And on the day I have to leave this world
Let me drown, content and at peace
In the wonders of your incredible love

Singaporean Sun
Elena Clair May 2014
Today the Singaporean sun shines
Down, to the commuters at the bus stop
Each with unique human storylines
It casts their shadows long, past coffee shops

Through, the window panes of old high-rise flats
And trees: branches, flowers, leaves. Shades shifting
Freely, on abandoned park benches and alley cats
Comfortably, filling forms consistently prancing

Beautifully, as it turns the sky pink
And the urban landscape is coated in gold
Simply, more so, than one would think
From the days of our youth, to the time we grow old

Sweet Child of Mine
Elena Clair Mar 2014
Sweet child of mine
You break my heart with every word you say
I fall through your careless lines
Deeper into a void, every single day
Dragging me down, every single time
Continuing in your selfish ways
Refusing to acknowledge that we are not 'fine'
I never thought you'd do this to me
Leave me in devastation as you walk away
O, sweet child of mine
to someone who means the world to me, but doesn't feel the same way as I do

Heaven
Elena Clair Feb 2014
Once I met a girl named heaven
Who contained the saddest words in her pen
And the secrets of the world written
in the lines of her hands

She saw the world through her own bambi eyes
as if the world were something to wonder about
She searched for a beacon of truth and life
And felt the compulsion to sort it all out

She sat in corners and observed
Hoping to blend into the dull walls
But her sweet disposition transcended the patterns
And made itself known to all

I'll never forget those eyes
The notebook of secrets, or that smile
Whenever she leaves, she leaves an impression
Which would linger in my heart for awhile

Magic Ghost-Town
Elena Clair Feb 2014
The night started with anticipation
Nineteen stops away from the regular train station
The world moved by, as I listened to poetry
And five stops away, you waited for me

You held my hand and we ran away
from the terribly monotonous day
To a magic ghost-town where strangers danced all night
And laughed through the empty streets, under the pale moonlight

We walked
And you asked me if I was okay
I wanted nothing more than to stay

Untitled
Elena Clair Jan 2014
The harsh light condemns in this dark room
The moment I fled, a moment too soon

I want you so bad
We're waiting for noon

To reveal what was hidden
Under the light of the moon

Falling Stars
Elena Clair Jan 2014
Right from the start you've been doubted
Something's amiss
Some things don't align
Like a thousand falling stars becoming warning signs

Terrible and beautiful at the same time

All around you the world is breaking
Forming cracks from selfish demands
We all watched amazed, and wonder

How a human could survive
Being struck by thunder

You boldly declare, 'My heart's still beating!'
And I shamefully thought to myself, 'Lies. Lies. Lies...'

But when you held me in your arms, I could almost feel it
The warmth of your chest and a beat...

Move on. Move on.
*Stay strong. Stay strong.

Soulmates
Elena Clair Dec 2013
Tell me, do you believe that soulmates exist?
I could almost guess that you don't know if you do

Because I would feel the same way too.

Could God really have taken all the lovely things
Made it into a passion and built it into two separate beings?

I was a girl with a treasure map
Filled with self-made marks of the treasures that I'd find
You came along with your own atlas, when our worlds collided
And our worlds aligned

How strange it is to not feel like a complete stranger
Whenever I'm with you.

Paper Flowers
Elena Clair Dec 2013
Make me a paper flower
Cut and folded perfectly
Choose your favorite color
So part of your heart will be with me

Arrange a pretty bouquet
Don't regret that you can't buy them from the store
I don't need ones which wither away
I know that your heart (and the paper flowers)
Mean so much more

The little girl pulled on the thread

Wanting to see what would happen

Wanting to find what was behind

the neat little crochet patterns

It looked wonderful in her head

Another world all together

String in between her fingertips

And a soul as light as a feather

The little girl pulled on the thread

Excitedly anticipated

What new and spectacular shows,

Mystery and strange magic awaited

The wildflowers dance in the wild,' they'd said

Take in the places you've never been

Take in the stories with all your senses

And beautiful characters that you can't imagine

The little girl pulled on the thread

Every tug revealed another picture

Each break made the world unravel

The black and white turned into a mixture

Of grey

It looked wonderful in her head

Until it just became a mess

of dishonesty and selfishness

She was left lost in the different shades

In confusion and wistlessness

With dirt in her eyes and her pretty dress

The little girl pulled on the thread

The world in chaos, looked almost half dead

But the wildflowers danced in the wild, like they'd said

Out of brokenness comes beauty, she once read

It looked wonderful in her head

Alone Again
Elena Clair Nov 2013
A chic little lady
Dressed in grey, with your head held high
For you, every boy in the room would die
What a dazzling sight you are, in the spotlight

But the darkness of night takes over the light
You are left at home
Alone again
Tonight...

Stars
Elena Clair Nov 2013
The stars shine bright tonight
Above all the city lights
All we see are the barely visible flickers
From way down here

Nevertheless, they are still there
Gloomily hidden behind the urban glare
Burning bright
On a brilliant night
For you I promise, I'll always be there

One Year
Elena Clair Oct 2013
It's been awhile since you sat next to me
We used to be so content in that we could just be
It was too bad that you never asked me
If I had thought that I could be

(My heart is still longing for you)

Perfectly happy, sitting next to you forever
Because the answer would surprise you
And me too

(My heart is still longing for you)

It was traumatic, though you didn't ask me
If I would miss you when you left me
Because in all honesty, I still really do
Left here wondering
If you feel the same way too

(My heart is still longing for you)

Uniforms
Elena Clair Oct 2013
Little figures of purple and of blue
The uniforms cannot hide different places: different faces
Starting friendships, rivalries and thunder races
Personifying love, and energy, and whatever is true

Like the sun, illuminating, burning bright
They move at the speed of light

We are unable to fit them in one flat form
Or to keep them lukewarm.

Even with the uniforms.
Being a teacher and all...

I Am Me
Elena Clair Oct 2013
This is my idea of freedom:
That in this moment, I am me
I can just be

By a field, surrounded by trees
With the golden beams of sunlight shining through
Each leaf, a different shade of green
Dancing gleefully to the beat of the wind

By the pavement where weeds and wildflowers grow
Creeping through the concrete, dressing the ground
With a million speckles of yellow and white
In their simple grace and little heights

By the feathery cat tails and clovers
Listening to the gentle breeze, the crunch of leaves
With the cool scent of the air and warmth of the sun
A moment of impact, like the sound of a gun

That in this moment I recognise
With absolute clarity I realise
That in this moment, I am me
I can just be

— The End —
