She said, “I miss you”
He did nothing
She asked, “What do i need to do?”
He answered, “Forget everything.”
He said, “Erase your feelings.”

Who are you with tonight?
Pieces of me fall away
Reveal my  circuits
components laid bare
Some of them broken
None of them spare
Now look  inside
I'm all metal and wires

I don't feel pain
but i can feel
I'm not alive
But I am real

Who will share with you?
I don't need to breath
But I can't move forward
down on my knees
I was never alive
And I'll never die
to mourn this loss
But never to cry

I'm not a machine
I'm not a machine

Once we were young
And ruled the the world
We saw things
We did things

The photographs
proved we were there

Have you ever been
Woken by your anxiety?
It knocks on your door
Won't stop banging until you let it in.
Two hours of sleep
That's how long it would leave me.
You know that feeling
When you just feel the need to cry,
Like it would be refreshing,
healing in some way?
I want to do that
But there are no tears.
They don't want to clean my eyes.
They don't want me
To see things clearly.
I think I might be going insane...

I met a genius on the train
today
about 6 years old,
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's not pretty.

it was the first time I'd
realized
that.

A Life

We were infants
Trying to stand
Trying to talk
Seeing the world for the first time.
Six months and we grew
Learning, discovering
Looking for purpose
But still stuck in our minds.
One year and we were children
Believing we knew
All there was to know
But still filled with wonder.
Finding the first sadness
Peace in companionship
Hope for the future
And somehow life inbetween.
Two years and we were adults
Each others' first
"Happy," used so often
"Love," thrown back and forth.
In the cracks, underneath
Darkness spilling
Pain and confusion
Joining but tearing.
Three years and we were dead
Hope gone, innocence lost
Liquid life had taken ours
And pain was all it left.

But I am not
I live. And I realize that
Love was something you never gave,
There was no we, only me
And we did not live, or love.
Rather, I did.
I do.

I'm Just Me

Just Melz
I'm just an American girl
With a North Carolina soul
A Greek spirit
Two Egyptian eyes
A Tennessee heart
Spanish lips
A Southern body
An Italian attitude
A Washington mind
Three beautiful children
A Texas love
A little New York social skills
And a California childhood
There's basically everything you need to know about me. This is based on the idea by MF and her poem titled "Location". Thx. :)

Dear Earth

I fell in love with you today.
yesterday as well.
your beautiful leaves,
and your snowy trees,
there's no wonder why I fell.
you took a life that I loved
3 years ago in march
and although her body is underground
her love remains in my heart.
she is the snow covered sidewalks
and the freshly mowed lawn
she is the leaves in the wind
it's like she's  not even gone
she is the birds up high
and the sharks in the ocean
she is my sweet lullaby,
she is my happy day potion.
I fell in love with you today
and yesterday as well
just promise me
that you will see
all the reasons why I fell.

Being a writer
Is not a part-time job,
Like being a nurse
Or a teacher:
Where clocking in
And out
Is as simple
As lifting and putting down
A pen.

No,
Writers have words
Flowing though their veins;
Poignant thoughts and emotions
Shape and reshape themselves
Into poems in the writer's mind
Almost by instinct.

But
Do not be fooled:
The writer's world
Is no paradise:
Thoughts tug at our brains
In the middle of the night,
Like a child pulling
At its mother's coat
Beckoning us to the page
Where finally we free the thoughts
That have been held captive.

And finally with sleepy,
Satisfied eyes,
We place the final fullstop
On our latest masterpiece
.

You know that feeling when your jumping?
Your feet leave the ground
And for a second you're flying
Your breathe is quick
And your arms fly out
Searching for something to grab
That's what it's like to love you
That slight fear of landing too hard
Falling and not being able to get back up
But the feeling of being lifted is there
The feeling that you can kiss the sky
I guess that's what I'm trying to say is
I hope you catch me
