The dappled sunlight shines lightly through the trees
The creek flows down the hill with gentleness and ease
The red winged blackbird calls loudly to her mate
The butterflies fly happily around the garden gate
The chimes blow in the breeze and quietly ring
Oh, the sights and sounds of the season make my heart sing

I’m gonna have some coffee
I’m gonna drink some tea
I’m gonna eat some hot soup
Because this frickin’ snow is crazy

Mother Nature is off her rocker
This is a real pleasure blocker
They are going to have to cancel soccer
This sure doesn’t feel real proper

What’s going to happen to the apple blossoms and the daffodils
Going to have to start a fire to avoid the chills
As you can probably tell, I’m not real thrilled
But I refuse to allow this to break my spirit and will keep my strong will
6 inches of snow forecasted in mid-Michigan on 4/27/19.

Daffodils in full bloom
The perfume scent of the grape hyacinth

One red-winged blackbird calls to his mate
The bluebirds guard their nest

Clear blue skies make way for the intensifying spring sun

A delicious brunch is cooking in the oven
We are about to have some fun

Cheers to new beginnings and the best time of the year
I’m so relieved, my eyes are wet with happy tears

One day death came knocking on my door
But I was not ready for death

Please go knock on someone else’s door I yelled
As I struggled to take another breath

It was then that I had made up my mind
Fight like hell
Because I was not ready to leave everything behind

As I eventually pulled myself from the smoky car
Strangers quickly became caretakers that caught my fall
And I was not afraid anymore
Because death had simply checked in on me then had moved along

Gazing at me from across the room
You are my fantasy
You are my sin

Sending a drink over my way
You break the ice
I happily accept

Moving toward me slowly
You catch my attention
And hypnotize me

We let our minds run wild
All I can do is smile
And then look away

You longingly shake my hand
A sly smile on your lips
My stomach flips again

You order another round of drinks
My heart is beating so fast
I’m trying to listen

Want to help fulfill all of my dreams
Do what you want with me
My dearest husband

Overcome by a feeling of bliss
As you deliver a passionate kiss

Your lips brush against my ear
I can’t resist your touch
You make everything else disappear
Oh, I want you so much

Your tongue on my neck
My hand on your heart
You put my brain on disconnect
I slowly spread my legs apart

I shift my weight on top of you
I straddle your thighs
Then I draw you inside of me
And look deeply into your eyes

You are my heaven on earth
And I am your deep blue sky
I hope that we’ll be together forever,
until the day that we die

Dad
As I sit here amongst the trees
Thinking of you and all the happy memories
You are not gone, you are not dead
You will always live on inside my head

So many little adventures to the city and the beach
So many life lessons that you would patiently teach

You inspired my great love of music and dance
You would always say to me, just give it a chance

Practicing free throws and soccer kicks for hours at a time
Always inspiring me to never give up and helping me shine

Holding my hair back the first time I drank too much
Giving advice that I not use alcohol as a crutch

Around you, I did not feel like such a shy introvert
Always making me laugh so I did not hurt

You are the person who made me who I am today
I hope you knew it, and in this I pray
A poem for my Dad on what would have been his 70th birthday.
