Roses are Red
devante moore May 2018
I’ve never received a flower
Or even a rose
But I’m a guy
So it’s acceptable I suppose
No kisses
Or sweets
No treats
That signifies ones feelings for me
No token of ones love
But I have gotten
Disappointment
Watered with hate
Planted in betrayal
Fertilized with lies
And maintained by fakes
Roses are Red
But my roses are dead
And crumble beneath my feet

Cell phone

Don't know how to tell you this
But your starting to become just words on my cell phone screen
Trying to convince me you love me
Even if you really do
My cellular connection is dropping so your messages is not getting through
And don't think It's you
It just hard to feel words on a screen
Your love is plausible
It just might be true
But I've succumbed to this distance
Can't feel the real you
If I met you in real life
I probably wouldn't know
Looking at a stranger looking back at me
Almost 2 years of unheard words
This long on a cell phone
To much of anything kills you
And right now it's my cell phone screen

He’s no longer responding
It’s perplexing
Because no one knows why
Yesterday he was doing just fine
And in this room it’s frightening quite
Because everyone knows he’s about to die
His mother angrily yells at the doctor
While she stands over his bed
Why! Why!
My baby
This is my son
And he’s not going to die
Devante Devante
I can hear her repeating my name
But the sounds of the world has finally gone mute
And the lights of the room ceiling
Slowly
Fade to black
And if you crying over my shoulder right now
I’m sorry
I tried to fight it
But I just couldn’t fight my way back
I was to lost
Let myself be overcome with pain and misery
Unhappiness was my purgatory
But at what cost
My life
Yes my life
I gave it away
I’d do anything just to feel a little less
It’s why I injected myself
With an illegal amount
Of morphine

Electricity

There's electricity in the air
I can sense what it would feel like
I in vision it
My own premonition
When we hold hands
The static runs through my veins
My hairs stands at attention
Goose bumps arise beneath them
I can feel the charge of it racing through my veins
Powering my heart
I can feel the current
Powered by you
But then
You removed your wire from the circuit
Leaving me alone to power it myself
Now I'm useless
Powerless
Without you
An incomplete circuit
The electricity flowing through me is no more

Her insecurities
devante moore Feb 2015
She doesn't think she's beautiful but ugly
It's strange to me
Its hard to complement a girl full of insecurities
She hides her pride behind her eyes
Those ocean blue eyes
The ones full of love
They shine when the sun kiss them
I swear I get a glimpse of heaven
I feel like I'm floating, no flying
But then I crash
She says I don't make her feel pretty
And it's silly of me
To fail at a such easy thing
My attempts fall on deaf ears
The words "your beautiful"
Never reach the top of her hills
Her insecurities stop them cold
Like the steel around her nose
That finds the sun an shine bright
My complements hides in her blacks streaks
In her golden blond hair
The hair she uses to hides her face
As I brush it away
In that one second our eyes meet
In that one second she looses her insecurities

Only regrets
devante moore Sep 2018
My only regret
I didn’t stick it out with you
Promised I’d fight
But when things got congested and tight
I walked out
Wish I never did
Wish we didn’t live on two different soils but we did

My only regret
I didn’t leave you when I had the chance
I couldn’t eat
Nights without sleep
Never thought something like this would happen to me
I was faithful since day one
But that still didn’t stop you from cheating

My only regret
Falling in love
Again
Despite the thoughts in my head
Warning me
Don’t do it
Falling in love is stupid
And when it’s over your going to feel useless
Realizing love is a combination best served without you

He lost his arm
By a cooked bomb
His world lit up like firecrackers
He was engulfed in fire and metal shards
Then his body went numb
So he was stitched up
And sent back home
There was a new brand of limbs
So he volunteered to be experimented on
For a prosthetic arm
As he went through new trials during the day
He suffered at night
He had night terrors about where he was evacuated from
Seeing himself holding a ticking time bomb
While bullets whisked past above
The bomb sunk into his hand like a solider in the slums
And as the time ticked one
His arm turned to glass and exploded
The shards from his arm imbedded themselves in his skin
This was his dreamed
He beg to be fixed
But even though they could give him a new arm
They couldn't fixed what he saw when he closed his eyes

Motherless child
devante moore Jan 2016
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Born in the wild
Raised around apes
As they congregate behind the leaves amongst the trees
Sometimes I feel like I don't belong
But there's no way to escape
I'm just another ball
Tethered to this world to be played with
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Who's been lost for awhile
No home to be far from
Traveled a road paved with un proportional tiles
Conceived from of the cracks I slipped through
No concept of the word love
Baptized In the faith of hate
Loneliness a stain on my jeans
Bitterness pokes me when I'm awake
motherless child
Who wasn't pulled out the womb
Unearthed from a tomb

Prom Queen
devante moore Mar 2015
She was the prom queen
Beautiful, stunning
Popular
Her body matured more then most as a teen
Every guy wanted her
Girls jealous of her
She became a smoker
She was ill prepared
Inhaling sickness
Exhaling death
She didn't know was there
She gave her life then an there
It seared her throat
But she didn't care
Her inhales were long
She exhales with ease
Wanted to impress
She ache for popularity like a fein
After a couple of years the effects creeped in like a disease
She seemed to age twenty years
Wrinkles appeared
He hair thinned
So did her body
Fingers stained yellow
Her teeth rotted brown
Her breath just as foul
The prom queen couldn't be found
Her limbs begin to die
Amputations a daily routine
Her voice raspy
Followed by a bone chilling cough
Deep ridges on her lips hides a smile
Now the prom queen is just a picture
That she doesn't look at
Hanging on the wall

Gently it sways back an forth
It's wood aged from its years of service
Chipped and faded
He sits an stares
Thinking of his old self, me
His eyes past there prime
His face saggy
Riddled in wrinkles
Gathered over the years
They tell a story of his age
Ears hang low, spikes of hairs peek out
He stares out
He would tell you the world is grey
With a complacent look on his face
He imagine his once true love next to him
Her once blond hair white as snow
Her crystal blue eyes
Dulled from the decades
Her skin now saggy like his
She sits in a matching chair as his
There chairs rock in unisons
She would always disappear in the breeze just before she smiled
He sits in his favorite rocking chair
Even though he's old now
He still remembers her
She's everlasting
He finally looks to the sky an smiles
And just as the chair stops
So does his heart

Heart of gold
To selfless
To keep the riches to myself
Voluntarily shared the wealth
But most were taking in the form of theft
I use to be filled to the brim
Gold coins overflowing out of the chest
Now when I look inside it
There’s hardly any left
I felt each piece that was taken
Never to be returned
Maybe I should shut the lid
But that’s a lesson I haven’t learned
My heart is to big not to share
So the lid stays open
Even if there’s a risk another gold piece may be stolen

You promised you'd fight for us
But if I were to end this
You would encourage me to go
Your words get caught in a spiderweb
Spawn up then ****** dry
Guess your vision of us was misled by your own eyes
I promised I'd never take a break from you
But I forgot to messaged you two days in a row
Some promises are meant to be broke
You must think my words aren't reliable
I easily stuffed them behind the wall of flaws because there pliable
The promises we made should be buried beneath the ground
Silence forever
If they could speak lies would be their only sound
Both bound by this undeniable love
But missing the necessary pieces to crown our words as kings and queens
Instead they've been impeached
Some promises are meant to be broken
At least the ones we've made

Frankenstein
devante moore Feb 2015
An experiment
A tortured soul
Murdered, put back together by a man with crazed fantasies
Body part stolen from the worst kind of poets
Ones with maniacal thoughts
Hands taken from a poet who murders his family in each line
Heart taken from a poet who gave into the hate
He writes about broken relationships
Legs taken from a poet drowned in depression
He writes about failed Suicidal attempts
Feet from a poet who walks hand in hand with the darkness
His midnight poems about the demons that haunt him
I was a tragic success
Each stitch sealed my fate
A combination of the worst kind of poets
A monster
Something you dreamed about
Something i see in the mirror
Normality is a star in the distance
I wish I could reach
You can't look past these scars
You get lost in between my lines
I've been painted as a monster
Given the name Frankenstein
A symbol of fear
But you fear the wrong one
I am not Frankenstein
No
He's the real monster that created me

The rabbit vs The turtle
devante moore Jan 2015
As we begin at the starting line we know who's going to win
There's the white rabbit
Obnoxious,Cocky,A *****
Fueled by red bulls an monsters
He can barley be contained
Fur coat at attention
Like there's electricity in the air
But we're drawn to things with a flair
In our eyes his white coat nothing could compare
It's special
Then there's the turtle
Passive,majestic,shy,common
The underdog
We only like them when there's a chance they might win
It takes each step gracefully
Carefully, trying not to impress
It's been counted out shunned for its slowness
As the race begins the rabbit dashes away
Down the trail reaching its peak on the straight away
Not looking back
His speed unforgiven
Giving it the illusion of hovering off the ground
Not a sound heard as it flies by
The turtle still at the starting line
It's progress unhealthily
It to makes no sound
It's footsteps stealthy
But it stills marches on
The rabbit far ahead
Looses his sights that this is a race
He knows the turtle pace
He begins to dash around trees
Running in circles
His momentum makes the ground begins to give
making a donut effect
So detracted he begins to chase leafs
Caught in the wind
So burned out he crashes
Falls into a trance like slumber
As the turtle still moseying along
Moving at a records pace two steps per minute
Begins to catch up
Soon enough it passes the rabbit
Flabbergasted hes asleep
Quietly it sneaks away down the trail
Pace still two steps per minuet
As the race progresses the turtle has the finish line in sight
Thinking this is its moment
To shock the world
But it ain't over yet
The sleeping rabbit awakes
Yawning an switches its nose
Starts running again
He sees the turtle in his sights
Confused how this happened
There's no way he's going to lose
But fate was not on his side
As he widens it stride
Trying to catch up the turtle just near the finish line
One step and it's all over
And just as the rabbit catches up
It's too late

It's all because of you
We would be much happier if you were a better you
Twisting your words
Intentionally
Only because it benefits me
Fighting over everything
Thoughts of ending it over anything
And it's only the beginning
But it feels like this is the end

But so are you
Differences never settled
We will never be one

Give me your soul an you shall be set you free
Indulge in our ways
In return your craziest fantasies
Will be handed to you
Let the sin set in
Like conditioner
You've been warned about me
So you locked me away
Threw away the key
And the chains you put on
Already rusted away
I tap on the door keeping you awake a night
You like when I beg
Twist the handle as you pray
Trying to keep me at bay
You like the way I sound in your head
I'm a slumbering beast in your belly
My thirst is strong
The hunger only grows
Once you awake me I'd be hard to control
Get lost in the lust
It'll be a beginning to our new life

I can see the lies in his eyes
He puts on another face
There's things he wants to hide
I can feel the lust beating in his chest
When he tries to put it to rest
It just seeps out in his dreams
The man in the mirror
Trips over temptation like a crack on the ground
He doesn't trust much
So the things he deals with alone
Eats him raw and alive
A broken record playing in his head Saying you can survive
His only way to cope Is to sit and pen this
If feeling was an onion then he peeled it away
Doesn't let anyone in
Being in solitude has made him blind
Sometimes the man in the mirror hates looking at me

The music
Out weighs the strange annotations on the pages
My words they use as their music sheet
Sounds emanate as they guide there bow over the strings
Following along the music sheets
Penned by me
300 violins play a soft soothing tune in the beginning
But they all start to scratch as they follow the path of the words
Playing erratic and panic
What verbs must I have use
They all seemed to play confused

Like an empty bottle of prescription pills
Sitting on the sink
Honesty
Has me on the brink

Drowning myself without something to drink
All because of the truth
But now I see
All you wanted was fragments
Like a chipped tooth
To me honesty heals
Like chicken noodle soup
But to you
It hurts
Guess you rather me tell you the sky isn't blue
Honesty kills
In the first degree
Heart rate dissipate
Your lips glow blue
And ***** oozes out of you
Your skin temperature becomes bipolar
Hot then cold
You can feel the life leaving you
Honesty kills

I can smell it on the scent of her breath
It singes my eyelashes
Each time I take a breath
I feel like I'm flirting with death
Kissing death stained her teeth
Turned them brown
Rotten her breath
Killing me
When she smiles I can she hairs
From whatever animal crawled up there and died
Does she know whenever she inhales
The riptide of chemicals that shouldn't be
Is the cause of her putrid breath
Even when I she's gone away
It lingers
And stays
Polluting the airwaves

Instead of feeling embarrassed I pull you close
Wrapping my arms around you
So close I can see my reflection looking back at me
So close I can see the thousand connection in your blue eyes
Mimicking the stars in the sky

Nervousness in both our faces
I can feel you quiver
As your lips are quite smaller then mine
But that's fine
Like a puzzle they'll fit together
And even though it's not Christmas

Why are we running
We run because of the need to feed
To provide for our offspring's after the breed
I stalk you from a far
Picking out the weak, got you in my sights
Our speed makes you wish you were more camouflage in the brush
Already upon you in a rush
Kicking up dust
Startled you
Slowed your reflex's just enough
Usually a solo hunter
But there's an extra pair of 8 feet running next to me
Hunting tactics in synch
Chasing you through the dusty plains
I run you in their direction
So they can sweep you off your feet
Like a midnight affair
As they sink their claws into your legs
I watch as your body and the ground meets
I circle you panting while they hold you at bay
The white in your eyes show
You know you've become prey
Waiting for you to stretch your neck out for a second wind
Then ill strike and put this battle to a end

a kind heart
Ready to give anything to meet people needs
Sometimes I wish that was me
But it's hard to be happy when black
Is in my company
Happiness isn't a shade I can't see
Only the torturous black comforts me
Hugs me tight like a lost friend you don't want to see
It's uncomfortable like when my dad try's to speak to me
White is the light
It's shine can't reach me through the night
Only in shades of grey
Dulles my heart
Like a knife that's lost its usefulness
It's hard to find white
When I'm so use to black

Feeling like you don't belong
The odd one out
So you sit alone
Blasting music in your zone
Pains of being unaccepted
On the scent of your breath
Wondering what you were put here for

Parents divorced
And they blame you
A broken family
Plague by you
A young girl
Thinking you were a mistake
And this pains you
Wanting your life story to end
To think your family is better off without you
This weight on your shoulders
Makes you feel you've been crushed by a boulder

The sickness come and goes
Distorts your skin
Makes you hide
Hate yourself inside
Loving yourself is hard to do
Doctors says this disease may be fatal
But it's just a chance
And it scares you
Thoughts you won't be here long pains you

He use to beat her
And there was nothing you could do
Your were such a small insignificant child
To step in an put up a fight
You watched your mom used as a punching bag
Hit until you didn't recognize her face
Helplessness is what you felt
Pained you she couldn't count on you

You cut everyone off
Shut yourself from the world
No one could ever be trusted enough
To know the real you
Dad was never around
He was always such a let down
Words never holding value
Putting your faith in anyone else
Would be a costly mistake
Thinking you would be betrayed
So you sit alone
You don't need anyone else
Only trust in you
You made preparations
No one else would disappoint you
But you've always felt you been on your on
A life forever in solitude
Pains you

Now you can no longer feel your toes
The color has left your finger
They're no longer useful anymore
You use to love winter
It's the season love introduced herself to you
You two played in the snow until your nose was blue
But when the snow storm came through
When the wind was the coldest
And the snow stung your face
That's when she abandoned you
Took the warmth she brought
Without her
Your just an empty shell
For the cold to just seep into
Love has treated you so coldly
But hypothermia with comfort you

She would become my prescription pills
As the deal was sealed
Taming my pain
As others were slain
In the sacrifice of her name
Poetic justice she exclaimed
She was beauty
A living symphony
And I plague with devotion
To show I'm faithful and capable
I don't stop until my fingers bleed
She doesn't need anyone else but me
Writing scriptures
Until she had her fill
A slave to the pages
To satisfy her nonexistent cravings

But with you there's much to fear
O when will the time come
When I find out you lied to me
O how deep does your rabbit hole of secrets go
O I wonder if I even want to know
What have you done
O how much will it scar me
I know wounds heal
But what about the scared tissue beneath the skin
O how bad will it be
Never feared a broken heart
O but how broken would it be
Would the pieces be swept up by the ragging wind?
O would they be cast in different direction
Only speculation is my friend
O these trust issues will be the death of me

Or give me a machine to fix the poisoning things I've done
Show me a trail to pick
Show me a way to a woman's heart

Carved tree
devante moore Mar 2015
I carved our names in the tree
Forever imprinted there
It seems to ignites the trees growth
Leafs flourish bright green full of life
Sweet plums sprout out
Filling the branches
They're sweet like our new love
Roots nurtured by our overflowing passion
But even the sun that provides life can **** it with its sun rays
This is either going to last forever
Be more beautiful then when the sun peeks from behind the horizon
Painting the sky with reds and oranges
Heaven seems to flaunt it's light upon us
Birds dance in the Rays
This seems to be some fairytale movie scene
Or come crashing down harder then a 9/11 plane
Ruining the foundations we built this on
Fires melting away the frame we tried so hard to sustain
Molten metal wears and tears at our skin
Only a person in the inside could cause such damage
Or was it the influences from the outside
Either way it's a day unexpected like D DAY
What can I say
I tried to show you beautiful things
But it ended bad like a lost wedding ring
And you can tell me if this ever ends
Was the love we felt
Worth the everlasting pain
Even the tree feels the effects
Leafs no longer green
Branches splintered
Fruits withered
Uprooted roots
And the bark cracked
Splitting our names apart

I need help
I fear for my health
I'm starting to get that itch
When I'm away from you for to long my eyes twitch
I get sick
I get the shakes
Bad headaches
My sheets often drench from the cold sweats
I experience shortness of breath
I miss the cold steel against my skin
The exhilaration of it penetrating the layers that protect me from you
They resist,eventually giving in
It lets you in
Your fluid gushing through my veins
The adrenaline I get
My heart races
I get lost in the feeling
Nothing else matters
I'd fight matter to have more of you
Your love
I mean it
It warms my heart
Speeds up my thoughts
But slows down my reaction
The sensation bombards my chest
I try to slow my breathing
But my heart wants out of its prison
It's bones usually thicken
But It's cage weakened
By the drug that has me hooked
Name your price
If I don't have enough
Expect me on tv
Negotiating these hostages for the biggest heist you've ever seen
I think I'm going crazy
I think I have a serious problem
I admit I'm an addict
I wish someone would admit me
I need rehab

kryptonite
devante moore Dec 2014
Keeping my distance
If she was a buzzing bee
I would flee
Scared of the sting
The venom corrupting
Crippling it seems
And I don't like the effect it has on me
I feel weak
No longer in control
Just one glance
When our eyes meet it begins
Hard to breath
I drop to my knees
I dont have the will to look away
I can feel her love coursing through my blood
What's wrong with me
I fight it
But the sick thing is i like it
This isn't me
Now I know how superman feels
This is the feeling of kryptonite

I started losing my mind
When everyone that said they loved me started leaving
I started gasping for air
When I realized I stopped breathing
Carpet burns on the forefront of my toes
As a result
Of trying to stop myself from swinging
I couldn’t call for help
Because the rope around my neck stopped me from screaming
Couldnt come up with a title... opened to suggestions

Superman
devante moore Dec 2014
I want to save her
Wisk her away everyday
Fly off into the sunset
Just for the reward of kisses and hugs
That's what I strive for
Every second every hour
I'm the one she can count on
But as time goes by
This suit I can't put on
My cape carried away by the wind
I want to be her hero
Jump infront of that bullet
Give my life for her
I missed my chance
Guess I'm not right for her
I gladly die and fight for her
Thought I was superman
But dreams dont always come true
I wanted to save who?
You

Wrath
devante moore Jun 2015
My wrath could move mountains
Conquer the tallest Titan
Bone shattering like the bite of a crocodile
It's everlasting
Longer the the Nile
When it's unleashed its vile
Jagged
Unpredictable
More unpleasant then a rotten smell
From a corps a flamed in hell
The devil dwells
Swells as he feast
On this beast
Looking to cause pain
It's inflictions are like cuts from a rusted knife
Eyes blood shot red
Logic has fled
The only mission is to hurt
It pours down like ashes from a slumbering volcano
Awaken and anything in its path mistake for a target
Bargaining on failed attempts
The demons swim in the rage
Wraths locks has been weakened an shaken loose
But this only the beginning
The door is still close
Once its open who knows

Numb
devante moore Mar 2015
She's becoming numb to him
She use to feel comfort in there kiss
Now she can't feel the texture of his lips
It's like he's not there
Like she's kissing air
She loved his voice
But now it's like he's horsed
Somewhere along the line she lost him
When she looks his way
Her gaze he doesn't meet
Because he too has become numb
He use to run his fingers through her hair
The feeling of it set him free
Like he was touching a cloud
But now a storm has set in
He loved her hugs
But now it feels like he's touching a hollow shell
And when he does look in her eyes
Love is not there
Only a blank stare
He was her reflection and she was his
But now it's only transparency
They look through each other
She's out on the porch giving her life to a little white stick
Blowing smoke in the air
Using her fingers to draw images in it
And he sits in what use to be her favorite chair
Staring at a muted tv screen
He found peace in the quiet
But when they slept
They dreamed of of each other
Every morning the woke next to each other
And somewhere sat hope
Trying to build a bridge
To mend the gap the swept between them
And bring them back together
Hoping there's still time
To fix what's broken

Pursuit of happiness
devante moore May 2015
The trail to happiness isn't as close as it seems
To be exact it's 9175 miles away from me
Across the sea
Where the Kangaroos and koala bear sleep
Why does this pursing happiness
Have to be so hard
Why is it so far
I wish for it to be closer on shooting stars
But hope soon fades
With the star as it drag races across the sky
Dipping beneath the horizon
Forever lost in space
But I see shooting stars when I get a glimpse of your face
My heart races
When I hear your voice
For a moment happiness is near
But soon disappears
To be replaced my something we both fear
Doubtfulness
That happiness will ever be real

Rainbow

I'd date the rainbow
And fall in love with the violets the blues and the Reds
Have a date night with the pinks, yellow and greens
Cuddle purple
Hold hands with orange
I'd date the rainbow
What colors on the outside doesn't matter to me

Yet I go to war for all of you
And once the battlefield
Has quiet down
Still you’re gone

End of the rainbow
devante moore Feb 2015
Follow me over the rainbow
Through the clouds
To its birthplace an back down
Let's dance through the color spectrum
To the other side of the rainbow
Let's find all shades of green an expose a new one
I'll take you to a place where imagination an creativity roams free
The tress mimic different colors
They seem to dance from the breeze
I'll take you somewhere you've never seen
Where oceans home clouds
And fish swim in the sky like the sea
You can surf the grass because they crash like waves
Even the sun isn't the same it shoots out different colored Rays
This could be our world if your willing to go
I'll show you there's more at the end of the rainbow then a *** of gold
