From birth
he fed on her snow
her sun,
her sweat,
her tears,
her ancient years.

he swam between
her skinny ways,
shrouded in seaweed
in shallows he stole
her plankton.

slick and spiny
he preyed,
electric
he shocked,
and shadowed
her moonlight thunder.

poked his head
in her crevices,
rode in her waves,
and stirred her current.

But he was in her,
like the snow.
And despite his bad manners,
she preferred him inside her
than to be stuck on the sand,
in another's land.
i knew two warriors,
one who breathed
and one who didn't.
And then he didn't.

Maybe this is a poem
and maybe it isn't.
memories.
forgotten freedom.
caught insomnia
in a mausoleum,
fighting nausea.
am i doin well?
drool against my will
until the light floods in.

sunday tunnel vision.
perfect colorblind.
ill-prepared and scared.
falling way too high.
don't change the subject.
my stomachs upset.
burning lovesick.
stick together eye to eye.

stitch letters together
into dated wisdom.
winds of change approaching,
much too proud to listen.
mortgage mortuaries,
buried in my debt.
have you ever slept?
i dreamt a dream then i forgot.
Gaping valleys,
Asylum-colored.

Spaced enough to
Let daytime prevail
And to let horrors imagine themselves
In the black lung membrane
Of 3 a.m.
For my blinds.
Your appreciation
Means more to me
Than any gift in return
I am not the author of my thoughts nor am I the poet whose poems you read.
I am only a vessel through which life exists; a witless witness of what befalls this body and mind.
Please excuse my false pride,
Forgive me my claims of titles and names.
I am merely the ghost in the machine within which I experience taste, touch, sight, smell and the chaos of clarity of mind.
I once knew with the certainty of the lost that I was the master of this universe,
Now I bow my head in pious recognition of defeated acceptance. Life is not to be lived,
Life is to be survived.
Free will is a conception of man's need and desire for order in a land where particles too small to be seen or felt rule with the supremacy of god.
We are nothing more than fish in the sea unaware of the ebbs and flows of the ocean around us in response to a moon we cannot even conceptualize.
There is peace in that thought;
If you can accept your insignificance you will realize how little that lost love matters for what is love but a micro atomic reaction to a cosmic event that happened light years from earth,
In which you were the victim of a joke you can't even understand.
