Chaz Moore May 2015
Still as blank pages and a pencil
My mind runs like icicles
Drips splat the cold concrete of my heart
Beating beating
A broken clock
As she sways in the warm summer night
On the height of my long cold mirage

We were vagabonds
The four of us across the west
Passing lines
No X's in the sand
We ended up North of Hollywood Land
Marked our spot
And Slept in a dream

I woke up on an island
Stranded with an empty bottle in hand
No honey
No money
I put sugar in my tea
with no place to flea
There is no place I should be

My phone plays beautiful tunes
And only tells me the blues
The fruit grows out front
But is picked before the morning light

I'm in my mind
I'm out of sight
building my flight on a boat
And coasting the shore line on a wing
I stopped yelling, so I could sing
I need to feel something

I hear the wind blow
Showing me the spread of Spring
I try to hold it back
But I can't change a thing
I'm already checked in
I've already split
My room is half up
While the other half
A cliff drop towards the door

I'm gunna have to leap, if I'm going to break on through
Get my foot in
Even if I gotta dangle on a coat tail
So I can pay my rent
Make my bail
I'm going to get out of this hell
I know the road very well

I got passed the fork and went right
Living in another room
More friends to fuel the fire

They ask me what I desire
I tell'm that feel
That moment
Those goosebumps on a medium
But looked on high emotions
That leap over a hole
And forward to open arms
Across mountains
And into the world
Into The World, moment, feel, hole, hollywood, dream, west, goosebumps,

I took a gift and threw it into a ditch
The man grabbed it
Hauled it away, and locked it in his tank
Tossed, hit, shattered it on a blank page in a hole
A clean slate used to cover the light
In a state of beauty and bruises
He stored it and stayed on watch
Cut the branches as they bloomed
Around the lock and into the night
No height will get passed his tools

What a fool
What a fool
What a fool to hold a materialistic block
Those branches grow too thick
His blade is not sharp enough
Too dull to break through the  bark

Ya you can drop it down stairs
But it will only go up, not out
You can push the ladder it climbs
But it only finds another on the wall
Ya you can take its ride
but it just runs down that dark road
grows and grabs the sparks in the sky
And sets the night on fire

With a desire for love
I run and look above
Push that slate away
And pull myself up
I look in for it
My Flame
My Freedom
My Friends
My family
My foundation
My built gift
Lifted to the sun
Look Above, hold on, flame, friends, family, freedom, foundation, gift,

Waves crash against the sand
The air blows with the blues
and my mind, sits steady
