tracing circles within circles
on a blue eyed afternoon
concentric breaths inhaled
on a current laced with bloom

into August morning tides
where the pull is slack
inside memories’ fading weight
receding half past black

how thoughts flicker in a circular motion!
how breezes cut the vernal flow
hyacinths whistle their devotion
of God’s reflected glow

perfect circles of a hometown summer
born of heat and light and haze
perfect circles in the ether
spherical stay the solstice days

i have just come home from a long walk. the time is around 6pm
on an august sunday in new york city
i am listening to a record by cannonball adderley as the early evening sunshine streams
through my windows. i prefer vinyl to digital music. my apartment on 86th street is small but clean. there is fried chicken and fresh strawberries in the refrigerator but i am not hungry right now. i have 2 cats that are both 5 years old. they are well fed and happy. later tonight i will fall asleep in my big beautiful bed and dream of you and about how God works in such wondrous ways.

beholden to your beauty;
the granite phoenix, the marble hips
the inside of your lips, the ivory pride
the deserted candlelight of
the shoreline's mirrored bride

foundation poured on salt and rain
erected towers of fiery strait
that drown you with their bluest flame

"how deep the under sea hours
in time and stealth and name
how blue the whitecaps fall
echoing with their own weight"

from between the ****** currents
of the breach and petal skin
the black chariots transport
their starless charge held sway
as rose water lips part
the very God's laid within
bared and beholden to this later day

(4 essential reasons for being)
sundown’s renewal layers celestial seasons of all seeing
silent forms of life bridge a gap beyond all being
reason stands for reasoning and will lapse before the fall
heated ions complete a circuit of a parallel winter’s (withered) wall
bare spots where the paint has chipped
threadbare skin wherein pigment’s clipped
radiation points of coma without separation
condensation bullets without just compensation
a fair and honest appraisal of an afternoon without
whispering from concrete acres of god’s love devout
distant from such as sky and sky alone as such
every night as much as last and last alone as much
falling faster than any sound has sound enough for calling
fallen angels never know exactly how far they’ve fallen

there's a firefly in my bedroom

200 feet of modern distance
with its lightning tail aglow
