In a world

that falls

for looks,

darling,

go for the soul.

And every time,
breathing felt like
a mountain weighing you down
I wish youโ€™d come running into meโ€ฆ
that youโ€™d allow me
to cradle you to sleepโ€ฆ
And every time,
living felt like
a burden drowning you down
I wish youโ€™d come running into meโ€ฆ
that youโ€™d allow me
to cradle you to sleepโ€ฆ
And when youโ€™d wake up
the darkness in your eyes
will have given home
to poignant smilesโ€ฆ
And when youโ€™d wake up
the new moon night
will have given way
to bright morning sunlightโ€ฆ

to write about love
is a cliche of sorts
i put my pen to paper
to write a tale
of obsession
of lust
of admiration
of deliberate attempts
rushed and hushed
of chances grabbed
and opportunities lost
of everything
that made you
trace back to me
that made you
hold me
each time I fell for you
you wonโ€™t be able to stop
because Iโ€™ll never
give you a reason to
because Iโ€™ll be
the sunshine
that will exorcise
your demons
Iโ€™ll be the lullaby
that will put you to sleep
finally

Every

nook and cranny

of the crumbling

ruins

were reeking of

such homesick

memories,

I kissed the

rotting debris

as if it were

a loverโ€™s lips

Your words

dug a grave

for my soul

so deeply

soothing

that

I wanted

to remain there

buried forever

mighty hills on both sides

the haughty river dancing jovially

the sight made my heart tremble

like an anxious bride-to-beโ€ฆ

melting frost and snow

began to slowly hypnotize

my wild wild heart

and this chagrined mindโ€ฆ

amidst cloud-kissing peaks

and pines so sky-high

I forgot how lonely I was

despite no soul in sightโ€ฆ

my heart grew fertile

rosy dreams galore

I felt like a new person

on a frozen wintry roadโ€ฆ

Dear Heart,

I am still

to meet someone

who would

put me in

more sweet trouble

than you.

Yours lovingly.

high up in the sky

beautiful patches

of the night time

followed wherever I went.

The street was crowded

with rustic leaves

and howling winds.

Scattered around

were a zillion voices

faces with fables galore.

There wasnโ€™t a soul in sight

except myself

and my shadow behind.

Together we explored

every nook and cranny

happily thinking

I could never have a better company

until the dark gathered around

and the first to vanish

was my treacherous shadow

quick on its heels.

Iโ€™m this closeโ€ฆ

to shedding the jitters

to breaking away from bitters

to releasing the heartโ€™s flutters

Iโ€™m this closeโ€ฆ

to refueling the fire

to freeing the repressed desires

to rewriting my memoir

Iโ€™m this closeโ€ฆ

to losing the reins

to reducing to vain

to falling in love again

with your windy nights

that caressed my body

Hey, December,

Iโ€™ve loved you more than summers

โ€˜Tis you Iโ€™ve wished to stay longer

I hope you always rememberโ€ฆ

with rare
lessons learnt
perhaps, its
better
to leave some
bridges burnt

When I gave you that book

I gave you more than I could

And who knew

what future held

But I believed in us

And it went without saying

that I loved you

more than you deserved

I didnโ€™t know what to do

When you said you couldnโ€™t meet me

on your birthday, that you had to go away

I trusted your eyes, those words,

and when you were gone

I ransacked every place I could

to get the best gift there was

And I happened by this book

which had my heart, my life

I wrapped it with all my love

as I wrote โ€˜To the best I know, the best of meโ€™

I wondered what you were doing

as I stopped by your place

to surprise you before you left

but what an irony

when I was given a surprise myself

by your gardener, a seventy year oldie

seems, youโ€™d never left, nor were going to

that you had a grand party

with friends and ex-lovers too

I was offered a ride that I promptly denied

with rage in my head and tears in my eyes

I turned to leave

but not before I parted with what I had to give

I asked your gardener for a penly favor

he said he had none and gave me a pencil

One last look beyond the shimmering parapet

realising not everything that glitters is gold

I tore off the foolish display of my affections

and signed โ€˜P. S. I donโ€™t love youโ€™, instead.
