I like you,
and I'm sorry,
but it's true;
so maybe we should jus forget about each other.
you wanna play around, and that's cool!
I ain't got a problem with a man who knows what he wants too.
I want to have fun but with you I feel like I could fall;
and that's the problem!
to have fun I shouldn't even like you at all!
It's way too complicated
it's way too hard
I've been down that road, and I can't do it again.
Not with you,
one more person I could lose.
and all because I can't control my heart,
all because when I looked at you
I knew, I just knew.
being away from you *****!
I feel like I need distractions to keep myself from talking to you.
maybe it's a cute guy who shows me interest
and we talk;
or maybe it's a guy with a girl and I can't help but make him go for a shot.
I mean who am I to convince him to come after me?
Just another ****.
Just another tease.
But lemme jus tell you, that it's all because I am tryna keep myself away from you.
From your smile
From your lips
From the way you touch my hips
God!
Do you have any idea what you do to me?
No.
I really don't think that you do.
I can't control how I feel, even though I'm trying.
It's almost like I'm tryna keep someone from dying.
I really would love if you could feel it too.
It would make things easier, and make me feel less blue.
That first kiss was the moment everything changed.
It's not that serious, I said, but it sure as hell is not the same.
Tried to play it off like it was just a game.
Tried to save myself from inner despair.
I don't want to have feelings, I just don't want to care.
I've become someone else, someone I never thought I'd be.
Yet you're the only one I really care who sees.
I'm hiding behind a wall because I'm so afraid to fall,
and at the same time I feel I've done nothing to prevent it at all.
I'm slowly letting down my guard, and with you,
it isn't that hard.
I should just leave you be, and let you forget about me.
First poem on this site...don't be too ******* me.

you run across my mind
at the worse possible times,
when my lips are on his,
you make my heart ache.

And i cannot stomach to say i do not love you because i do, i do, i do.
Sadly,i do.

i want to lose
my voice, so you
can't hear what i'm
screaming to you,
because i know
i'm going to regret it.

I.
My son does not understand fear,
he is 3,
he thinks in color,
he believes in magic,
he says that our dog Smokey
controls the weather.

Watch him as he goes!
Jumping over cracks on sidewalks,
pretending to fly,
attempting to get near electric outlets
because he saw them spark once,
and fire,
fire is cool!

"Watch me Mommy!

watch me."

II.
Some days I stay in bed all day,
I tell everyone I am catching a cold,
a sinus infection,
another migraine again.

It is easier to lie than to explain,
that it is too difficult to shower,
to find an outfit, to brush my hair,
to make food,
to chew it.

Friends jokingly call me a hypochondriac,
my Mother thinks I am mellow dramatic,
My son asks me if I need my temperature checked.

It is too honest to say,
"I am fighting monsters, and they won today."
Who would believe me if I did?

We are taught since childhood
to not believe in the things
we can not see.

III.
The day we buried my Grandfather,
I wore my favorite gray dress,
I was scared to taint it
with such a sad memory,
but I was 8 months pregnant
and nothing else fit.

We threw dirt in a hole
as three strangers watched us grieve.
They stood with shovels ready to do their jobs,
ready to get home to their loved ones.

All I could think about was how much
it aches to love anyone,
even in the good times, it aches.
Loss dances outside our window
like flames, waiting to engulf.

I vowed to protect my child
from any unnecessary pain,
I vowed to make him feel safe.

Now I fear I am the one
tainting him in gray.

IV.
Not every day is bad,
most days are nice, in fact,
some days are so good
that the bad ones seem
like distant memories.

On the good days I feel brave,
brave like my son;

I tickle his tummy and show him
which lights are stars, which are planets,
and tell him I love him, always,
no matter what.
Can't you see she is drowning?
Her heart is sinking,
A Titanic heartbreak,
Broken in two,
Don't just sit there and watch the oxygen escape her quivering lips,
Dive
       In
          And
               Save
                     Her.

Let the water consume you,
Drag your soul to the bottom,
Anchor yourself to the seabed
And stretch open your arms,
If you can't fire the flare,
At least go down with the ship,
Let her drift into your embrace,
Feel the pulsating current tear away
All final thoughts of fear and insecurity,
Just stay there,
Linger in the abyss of the disheartened
And wait until your bodies are pulled from the waves
**And revived.

M
Lord, is it too much to ask for thy mercy?
Do you turn from me even as I love someone
You say it's not okay to love?
(when apparently love is God-given
and God so loved the world
that he gave His only son
to die for us)
How is it fair that she would love
any, over me
simply because I am not made in your
other image?
Did Adam and Eve have a chapel, an
ordained minister, and the proper vows?
They say what I'm feeling is sinful, but
all I can hear is Your voice, telling me now,
"Go on, kiss her. Be true to yourself. I love you."
It hurts so much- why must I be trapped
in a circle of never-ending
"I can't"s and "I shouldn't"s and
"there's something wrong with me"s
when I am almost certain You're on my side-
All-knowing and ever-living God, tell me, please:
Why are some certain kinds of love so wrong when
all I can feel is right?
When I was young and bold and strong,
Oh, right was right, and wrong was wrong!
My plume on high, my flag unfurled,
I rode away to right the world.
"Come out, you dogs, and fight!" said I,
And wept there was but once to die.

But I am old; and good and bad
Are woven in a crazy plaid.
I sit and say, "The world is so;
And he is wise who lets it go.
A battle lost, a battle won--
The difference is small, my son."

Inertia rides and riddles me;
The which is called Philosophy.
