my old name is dead
but i'm afraid to bury it

Someday
"Are you a woman?"
She asks
With such disdain
And my heart stumbles

"Are you a woman?"
He mocks me
And for a fleeting moment
I consider

Truth or lie or silence -
My heartbeat quickens
And in a perfect world
I'm loud and clear -

"No"
they say "don't dare,
don't you even go there,
cutting off your long hair,
you do as you're told"

i hope you’re the one

Wanderer
Is it the words whispered
in secret corridors
i love you

are they proclaimed boldly
from roof tops
I LOVE YOU

Or maybe love
sounds like laughter
giggles shared only between two

what if love has no noise
its beauty is similar to a sunset
seen and felt
but never heard

my poetic brilliance is nothing to boast about;
it is a curse
because the best poets
write with blood, sweat, and tears.

i hope to grow old,
someday,
and be ridiculed for my distasteful,
unwise poetry;
i won't need praise to fill a void in my heart that is meant to be youthful,
i shan't be fruitless and tired;
i will finally be happy.

Love
I want you to know
You are stronger than you think
You will be okay

Even with me gone
Hold close to our memories
They’re all you have left

Thanks for the flowers
And the bruises you left me
May they never fade

I want you to know
I loved you in so many ways
But I’m letting go

So goodbye to you
My dearest almost lover
My heart still awaits
