Warmth
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Warm at last
Inside and out
Excited for tomorrow
Despite the chill
In the air

Circle
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Left or right
nobody knows
I am everywhere
I have no end

Round I go
No beginning in life
I am everywhere
Yet you often forget

I go round infinity
No Beginning
No Middle
No end

Changed
April Caddigan Feb 2010
So much has changed
in the past year or so.
People have come and gone
and come back again.

New freedom has been granted.
New places have been seen.
New people have been met.
New obstacles have been overcome.

Everyone has changed
Whether for good or bad.
We are older than our years
But younger than we seem.

Parents are proud
We are almost there.
So close to adulthood
We can now taste it.

Childhood has passed.
Adulthood still looms.
Caught between worlds.
Is where we stand.

Are We Ready?

Eternity
April Caddigan Feb 2010
The candle
will flame
for all
Eternity

Blazing through
every day
just like
Eternity

Moutains fade
trees die
through out
Eternity

No one
would recall
with out
Eternity

Eternity
will never
fade away

Help!
April Caddigan Feb 2010
It's our time to
shine
to sho what we've
got
And we've got
plenty
to show!

We aren't all
naïve
crippled by our
immaturity
cast aside for
ignorance!

We are the
few
with enough
potential
to do something
great
with our short
lives!

Give us your
guidance
For we need it now
most
in our time of
helplessness!

Share your
wealth
to empower us
all!

Why me?
April Caddigan Feb 2010
I don't want to be
pushed aside
shoved away
where no one can find me.

I don't want to be
the odd man out
the one forgotten
left alone to think

Why is it always me
pushed aside
shoved away
so no one can find me?

Why do I have to be
the odd man out
the one forgotten
always left alone to think?

Why is it always me?

Morning
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Spark of inspiration
Heart's deepest desire
connected through
a perfect circle.

Limbs entangled hopelessly
the sweet kiss of sun
so warm upon our flesh.

Whispered words of love
tender carress of breath
flowing through the senses.

The rustle of sheets
movement of limbs
Heartbeat to Heartbeat.

Float
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Clouds are beautiful. They never
die, but can never live either.
All they can do is cry
and shine. Floating through the
sky at a leisurely pace, unable
to stop, totally immortal.

Spider's Web
April Caddigan Feb 2010
We spin our lives
Like the spider weaves
it's web

The patterns intricate
If visible at all in
the sunlight

Delicately woven, it
shows our path from the
decisions made

Slow it seems, then
faster and faster 'til it's
completely finished

Once it's finished
it withers away until
nothing's left

Then it begins
all over again

Café on the Corner
April Caddigan Feb 2010
He couldn’t  afford this,
Probably saved his whole paycheck
But here he was,
At my table again,
One of three I wait on Mondays
The other two were empty.
This is the third Monday
He’s been here
At the same time
As me.

He ordered the cheapest
Item on the menu, just an appetizer
And only the half.
Nothing to drink?
Just the water is enough, thanks.
At least a glass of wine, please?
Not tonight, thanks though.
What about on the house?
It’s good wine.
Okay

I brought him the best.
It’d come out of my check, but
I almost felt sorry
Knowing he didn’t have money
It’s not that he looked poor
He just didn’t seem like
A guy with extra cash.
Would you join me?
… I could sit
Cool.

This isn’t what I ordered
This is better than what you ordered
It looks good…
Then eat it, same cost
Really? That can’t be right
Just try it, trust me, it’s good.
Okay… But… How much?
Same price, I told you
Are you sure
Yeah.

I wanted him to like it
It was the best thing off the menu.
My favorite, by far.
It’s too much for me.
Then take it home for tomorrow
Would you want to share?
You’re sitting anyway.
Sure, I guess so.
Smells good.
Good.

It was good, too.
Better with company, I admit.
He was fun
Good conversation is nice.
It was hard to find in a place
Like this where everyone
Is so in to themselves
He wasn’t, though
He studied
Art.

When are you off?
We could go for dessert after.
How about it?
I‘m off at ten thirty.
Would you mind waiting?
It’s only a couple hours.
I could bring coffee?
Would tea be okay?
Tea it is, then
Thanks

Drinks at the usual?
No, actually I’m meeting someone
So, who is he?
Just a guy, nothing.
The one you sat with today?
That’s him, why do you ask?
You’ve never accepted an
Invitation until now…
What changed?
Nothing.

Something changed.
I had gotten similar request before
I never accepted.
He was different.
He was better than anyone here.
Though they never realized it.
He was special, they weren’t
He had unique beliefs
Tilted perspective
Beautiful.

Falling Apart
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Help me
before I
fall apart

Help me
if I
fall apart
to pick
up the
pieces

Help me
before I
fall apart

Help me
if I
lose some
of me
to find
it again

Help me
before I
fall apart

Help me
stay whole
and uncracked

Moonlit Walk
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Darkness spreads
over a white world
Serenity

Nothing has
been changed
Immaculate

Sparkle downward
as they glint from pale moonlight
Beauty

No life
in a black and white world
Solitude

All is
lost in a sheen of snow
Cleansed

Help
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Wish I could sleep
Wish I didn't need
Wish I didn't want
Wish I could help.

Am I bad?
Am I selfish?
What would they say?

I need
I want
help.

Mother
April Caddigan Feb 2010
I can feel the earth breathe
Roiling with life,
churning under my feet.

She speaks to me
of life well lived,
and of sickness.

Our mother is dying
slowly at our hands,
her dear children murderers.
524 · Feb 2010
Is it?
April Caddigan Feb 2010
Is it bad
when you can't
remember to breathe
can't remember
why you must
stay on earth
can't think of
one good reason
to stay level
when every step
feels less and
less firmly planted
on the ground
can't keep a
whole thought before
you change to
the
next
line
when you feel
on the very
edge of losing
your last bit
of precious sanity
when you keep
repeating yourself and
can't remember where
it was going
when your only
escape fails you?

Is it ending
when swallowing and
breathing are harder
when vision is
blurring and faded
when words and
songs run together
when you are
ready to leave
when dark isn't
as dark anymore
when limbs go
numb and needily
when a can
looks like the
best way to
finish it all?

This is all
I have left
in me and
all I want
is to leave
and never have
to handle these
feelings and impulses
and pain again.

I want out
please believe me.

Slipping Away
April Caddigan Feb 2010
My world slowly
                    slipped
out of
                    grasp

I
didn't
even
bother to
regain a
hold on
it all as

My hands slowly
                     slipped
off of
                     safety

I
didn't
even
bother to
try and
regain a
hold on
it all as

my last breath slowly
                               slipped
out of
                               grasp
