As he slept she noticed the way his lashes fluttered with each intake of breath.
The way his hair fell across his forehead.
He stirred, his baby blues searching her eyes.
"What are you looking at?" He mumbled at her as he pulled her close.
"Nothing..." She whispered into his chest.
As he nuzzled her neck as his breathing slowed as he fell back to sleep with her wrapped in his arms.
“I love you.” She said to his sleeping outline as she finally drifted off to sleep.

If you look a little closer

On the sandy beach covered with shells
A group of teens are bashing gays
One kid goes as far as to say that
He’d **** the first queer he meets
After a while a tall blond, muscular guy asks
“Do you think I’m strong?”
The others are sheep nodding in approval
“Do you think I can get girls?”
Again they agree
“Am I a good friend to all of you?”
He seems to like all of the admiration
Suddenly in the midst of their praise
He states,
“I’m gay.”

If you look a little closer

Out on the peacock blue water
Rests a tiny motorboat
A boy and a girl sit far out on the lake
The boy is yelling at the girl
Leaning over her at the edge of the boat
Between them is a pink cell phone
With a text reading,
“ok, I love you,” from Corey
The boy is calling her a slur of horrible names
She doesn’t get a chance to say it’s her brother
He slaps her across the mouth
The girl isn’t going to stand another minute of it
She pushes back,
Sending him plunging into the peacock blue water

If you look a little closer

There’s a ******* the beach
She’s a little fat
You can see straight pink scars
On her thighs and stomach
She’s with a cute boy
Lying in the sand together
A group of girls park themselves
Within ear shot of the pair
They start commenting on the whale at the beach
When they spot the lines on her body
They talk about attention ******
How insecure they must be
The boy walks by the posse to get a drink
The girls stop him on his way back to ask
Why he’s with “that thing”
The girl holds her breath and covers her stomach with a towel
“Because I love her.”
“Well,” says the lead *****
“You must love everything that’s fat and ugly.”
The boy pauses
“I don’t love any of you.”
He walks back to the girl and kisses her right there.

If you look a little closer*

You might see

The courage to stand up for what’s right
Strength within
That love conquers all.

Sigilism
i’ll hold onto this innocence
like a spider web waiting to tear.
(poisonous arachnid,
are you jealous of those
with only one set of eyes?)

she was needy.
i was broke.

she was a mistake,
and i was tacked on
like the punch line to
a bad joke.

bought her chocolate milk and pop tarts,
bought gas and cough drops.

she said she'd pay me back in kisses.
kisses are nice,
but kisses aren't legal tender.

she made me dream death.
why would i hang on to her,
when i couldn't even afford the rope
to hang myself.

****. ****.
I thought I wanted this
but my heart is yelling
for me to call and lie to him
tell him I missed his calls
and didn't ignore him.
It would never ever work
it's just the way he told me
that he would stop calling
and would forget me
was such a tone it broke me
it tore my flesh and flat out destroyed me.
He said he'd delete me
like I was going away forever
and I'll never hear his voice,
which chills me,
ever again.
I don't know if this is a mistake
I can't tell if I made the right choice
to lose him, the one man
the only man
who might love me in this life.
How deep is the Ocean
Is
Seven miles
Deeper than my deepest thoughts?
Does the lack of light
Breed as much darkness
As I can in
A single night?
Are there creatures there
So heinous that I
Couldn’t even
Dream of dreaming them up?
What mysteries
What horrors
Could lie in a land
More alien
Than the moon?
I think this is
Why the Ocean
Terrifies me
And why I’ll never swim
In open water
With a billion tons
Of blackness
beneath my feet.

The smell of coffee and black sharpie fill your senses
Dragging yourself out of bed, you wrap the sheet around your naked body
Your head hurts more with every movement, every thought.

The sticky note on the door
written in small, squished, boy-like writing
"I never promised you forever."
