fingertips gently touching
heartbeats syncing to one
breaths of laughter, lust, anger
now I sit here, alone

coffee mug sharing
fighting over the remote
off-key screaming to songs on the radio
now I sit here, alone

hugging from behind
stealing of hats and sweatshirts
your scent, your voice, your warmth
now I sit here, alone

No longer will i only
write for you
I know there may never be a
final piece about you
But no longer
will you be my only muse

This broken piece I still carry
the one that fits in the empty
space of your heart
has grown too heavy
and it's time
to leave it be

The time has come
for me to mend my heart
without your name slipping through
its cracks

A bird will never learn to fly,
If it refuses to leave the nest.
The bird that just won't touch the sky,
Can never soar above the rest.

And although the nest will keep it warm,
While safe under mother's wing.
The bird will deal with too much harm
If the bird can't truly sing.

So be the bird that takes the chance,
And flies towards the setting sun.
Because a bird that's caught in passing glance
Is better than a cage built for one.
The song of sunrise
Gives way to my spirit
In the breeze
My body extends –
Under the shell of a passing crab
To the corridors
Of open waves consoling the sea shore.

The restoration of solitude
Reminds the heart
Of all things, fleeting
Be near me when my light is low,
When the blood creeps, and the nerves *****
And tingle; and the heart is sick,
And all the wheels of Being slow.

Be near me when the sensuous frame
  Is rack'd with pangs that conquer trust;
And Time, a maniac scattering dust,
And Life, a Fury slinging flame.

Be near me when my faith is dry,
And men the flies of latter spring,
That lay their eggs, and sting and sing
And weave their petty cells and die.

Be near me when I fade away,
To point the term of human strife,
And on the low dark verge of life
The twilight of eternal day.
