Many read
          Some comprehend
       Few feel.
She perished slowly
due to the lack of love
Like a rose on its fifth day
  in a vase.

She wilted
Like the rose
Denied nurture, denied love.

Then one day
He crushed the wilted rose
And disposed it along with trash.

That day she sighed in her
bed for one last time.
The rose being dead.
People die.
But their stories live on in the hearts of those
who had loved them.
Like the fire which has burned out.
But the ashes still remaining.

The memories wiped out
after years pass by,
Like the ashes swept
Away by the wind.

Yet the trees, the sky, the sun,
They all remain witness
to the life that was once lived
to the laughter and tears it shed.

Immortal therefore to nature,
Is the fickle human soul,
It lives on forever,
Witnessed by the sun, moon and stars-though ages may roll.
The voice
Of a broken heart
Can ring loudly
For years
Wrecking even
The hope
Of repairing
Shattered dreams.
Though it's hard
And at night sometimes
So easy to hear
The sound of
A lost loves heart
Beating so clear.
The deafening silence
Allows the tears
And for years
You may sit
silently still.
We will mask ourselves
And cover the scars.
But no matter what
We may think
We are not
A lost cause.
So let your heart
Beat again
Let the sound
Drowned out
The screaming of
A broken heart
Because it's not broken
It's just gained another
Beautiful scar.
You either feel
like you're going to die
or
you feel like
you're already dead.
Why smile
When pain is all you feel
Why cry
when there is no one to care
Why live
When there is no hope
in class
they asked us
if we were
afraid of the dark

no i'm not afraid
of the dark that
fills my room
at two a.m.

i'm not afraid of the dark
that engulfs
underground caves
or the darkness
submerged deep in
the atlantic ocean

but
i'm afraid of the dark
that seeps through
every fissure
and crevice
of my splintered heart;
the blackness that
cascades through
my veins
and the gloom
that fills my lungs
(with no room
for oxygen.)

yes, i'm afraid
of a certain kind
of darkness:
the kind that can't
be illuminated
by a flashlight

am
I just want the darkness to absorb me.
make me disappear.
take me away.
