We are the dreamers of day.
We dream about the warmth of the light,
About the flowers in bloom,
About the chances of a lifetime.

We are the dreamers of the night.
We dream about the moon,
About the stars,
About the vast night sky.

We are the ordinary dreamers.
We dream about hope,
About love,
About second chances.

We are the unordinary dreamers.
We dream about fairytales,
About castles,
About knights and princesses.

We are the dreamers.
We dream about anything and everything possible.
About anything and everything impossible.
We dream about the dreamers who still have hope
In such a broken world.
We dream about life itself.
We dream about the troubles.
We dream about the solutions.
We are the ordinary dreamers.

And so it is that life begins.
A step into the crazy maze of life.
First a left and then a right,
We find ourselves at a dead end.
Back track our steps and begin again.
Twists and turns constantly taking our path,
Round and round in circles we go,
Trying to find the right way.
Some spend their whole lives in the maze,
Some make it out.
I’m still fighting to find the right way in
This maze of life.

I’d like to sit atop the clouds
And watch the world above me
As well as the one below
I’d like to sit atop the clouds,
And gaze at the wondrous excitement
Of the shining, glowing fluff.
I can only imagine the beauty
Of the blue, blue sky.
Pure and clean and vibrant.
I’d like to sit atop the clouds
And watch our world pass by.
I’d like to sit atop the clouds
While they cry.
How terrifying, yet amazing,
It would be to experience
The rain from above.

I am forever
thinkin’ about you.
We’re lookin’ at the same moon
promising distances there and beyond.
If only I could get to you,
instead of the moon.

Things I would never tell you
This morning
I dreamt of defeating my own demons
Instead of looking for yours…
I spent time
Losing myself in a swish of color
To paint a safe haven I will never have…
I walked and walked
Until there were blisters on my heels,
Just so I could distract myself from this numbness
I know as sadness…
I burned my skin in the shower
Until it was red and blotchy,
Hoping to wash off that numbness…
I thought about
Leaving the unwashed conditioner in my hair
So that maybe it would dull my thoughts…
If you asked me about my day,
These are the things that I would
Never tell you.
