ive been told my whole life
that i was crazy instead of brilliant
so i grew up thinking
that my opinions were wrong
and my ideas were impossible
until i looked in the mirror
for the first time at beautiful words
scribbled across my mind
instead of words i'd always come to regret
carved into my body with metal
dipped in red ink

I once found a bird when I was younger

the bird was small and weak and abandoned by its other birds

I took it home, I did all I could

soon the bird died

Upon the stale wind, her body flails again
I came walking through the field
to learn about compassion

touching God's skin.

Her feet above my head, painted in mud and above the sugarcane

A poet's heart has called to me
Beckoning, I come willingly
A soul so open I can see
The imperfections
Reflecting mine in harmony
