i could be told a worldwide amount of praises
and then be gifted a lifetime of abraises
feeling nearly the same throughout my phases
learning how to collocate the right phrases
i'm prolific in procrastination
hence becoming the opposite of a cation
i hope i can acquire an alsatian
to make me stable
there's no telling
when i will be able
to suffice
and be looked at like gneiss

The way I wait

Left with no last goodbye
tossed by the wayside,
a finished cigarette flicked
out the car window,
sparks bursting apart
like the light of our love
all to pieces by the side
of a dark country road

The burnt flavor of her
still inside my lungs,
riding on my tongue,
in the breathless hesitant
last long goodnight kiss

Loss is what I see
when I look into the sky
tonight, no trees reaching
its leaves up for me

The burn of her words
is in the way that I say
but I loved you,
the way I wait, the way
I hold my breath to listen
for her footsteps in the kitchen.

Valsa George
I hear a wind whispering from the hills
It comes down tickling the woodland rills
From far is heard the frightened murmur of leaves
As it pounces on them like wayside thieves

It shakes the branches of flowering trees
And their weak petals drop like confetti in the breeze
Over hills and trees it loves to skip and stray
Always in motion, never inclined to stay

It moves unhampered over streams and field
With no resistance to its might, they simply yield
Like a child, it romps over the sloppy meadows
In its gentle touch, dances the gleeful flowers

It skillfully pleats the blue chiffon of the ocean
Sometimes curling waves in electric motion
Over the sea it runs puffing up the sails
And over the sky heaping clouds in bales

Sometimes it steals furtively like a lover
And disappears kissing our cheeks under cover
Often it comes capering with a lilt and a swing
We feel delighted when we hear its merry song

Like a nomad, the wind roams from place to place,
Hiding its mysterious presence from our glance
From an unknown hide out it comes like a spirit
But always making us feel its vigorous might!

At times it gains force and roars like a beast
Felling trees and wreaking havoc with its twist
In rampage, it sweeps the sea and the ground
Triggering sparks of fear and horror all around
So happy to see this enthusiastic response to my straight and simple lines. I have no words to thank you dear friends, especially to Kim who has given an extra shine to my poem......!

The walls are white
The floor is blue
The sky not quite above
Me and you
Just a panel away
Everybody else sits
So completely okay
An inch becomes a mile
The door a barrier
Between us and happy smiles

Curled up so small I unleash
A monster so big
Answering anxieties call
In everyway
It's told not to
Beside me you slash away at
The scary monster
Whipping it with words
Comforting hand squeezes
And cries of favourite bands

We're lead to a cave
Not trapping of us
But of the world
Saving us from
Outside these paper walls
We colour them in
Til ours pencils are blunt
And our eyes
Dry from the tears
That spill our fears out to the open.
Thank you, you. :)

I covered my wall with old photos
So that when I lay alone at night
I’m not
So
Alone.

Thinking it would fill
That empty void in my heart.
That black hole.
But rather,
It just added more fuel to the flames.
That burning desire
To not
Be
Alone.

But I can’t help it.
Loneliness comes naturally to me.
As If it were in my DNA.
My veins.

I separate myself from everyone else.
The only friends I have now
Are the face of those plastered on my wall.
The greatest joke of them all;
As if I could fool myself into thinking
That those faces could comfort this lonely soul.
To the photos which hold my dearest memories. Those unforgettable moments. Long gone but still here in my heart.

Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy,
Do you know what these men say to me?

With their
eyes and their mouths
when I walk on the street.

With a grin and a nod
and a look up and down.
A wink and a kiss
and a cat call heard from downtown.

With my skirt short
and my top
low,
It’s a cold world daddy
and no
doesn’t mean no.

Daddy do you know
how these men look at me?

Like I’m a piece of meat
strutting down the street?
With my head buds in
and my favorite song on.

I’m asking for it Daddy,
I’m in the wrong.

Do you know how it feels
not to wear what I like?

To walk a little faster
when I’m alone at night?

Daddy the world is my predator
and I am it's doe,
Daddy what happens
when I can’t say no?

Poetry First
splayed splashed and splattered she
shades of ebullient blue on skies languid
and as glided and rolled and pirouetted her spirit
swirled beauteous clouds in bounteous ecstasy

pigments of hale she lent to rainbows pale
as sparkled in sun her tinted wings
nurtured beneath them her burgeoning dreams
unbridled in vastness soared her flights a many

Girlhood years ~
                                  ~spirits                      ~ rocking
                                              ~  frolicking

                                                   ~like mirthful waves

thence came the age of early youth
when sprouted an ogre from thicket of rules
born of patriarchal seeds devoured her open sky
space where her spirit sang danced and grew

coerced to gulp a concoction made from
meaty pulp of social codes to her hitherto unknown
transformed she into an ‘ideal’ woman
- compliant, subservient, submissive and meek

wishes waned
dreams drained

little remained
of the blue in her skies
and of rainbow hues
Reflections on times when women were deemed fit solely for raising children and doing household chores... And groomed accordingly... Defying their defined role and stepping outside seemed almost unimaginable...

Inspirations from Simone de Beauvoir's quotes-

“One is not born, but rather becomes a woman.”

“Her wings are cut and then she is blamed for not knowing how to fly.”

“Woman is shut up in a kitchen or in a boudoir, and astonishment is expressed that her horizon is limited…..Let but the future be opened to her, and she will no longer be compelled to linger in the present.  ”

Today,
Is a beautiful day
So beautiful the walls
Are drizzling with
Art.

As the sun rays
Were the perfect artist
Of this morning.

Today,
I learn
What it means to be
One,
As for today culture
Breaks the boundaries.
What peace may mean
What emotions
I live to tell and relive
Cause today I care and tomorrow….

Mystery is believed
And imagined.

For fantasy has proven
It aint’ catchy
If you don’t know the different dimensions of the universe
Today,
I hold a hand
To lead and to be lead
(To hear and be heard)
Cause today the books
Will not tell history as it is but
As it is

Today
I tell you that
I the being are
A broken abandoned home
Scared of my essence
As it’s just how you perceive my existence
Of the foreign language
I speak.

For I will
Kneel and ask
Will you be my
Better of the half
I can’t achieve
Without, your driving
Force I have reckoned with

Without fear
Today
I plan neither to regret
I did it
For I would just like to imagine
What fate the crystal ball
Has history all mysterious about.

I am music at its finest
Today,
That the flow of the currents
Is by the tide of the melody
I play in my mind.

For I dreamt in a dream
Of dreams so deep
That I may have
Broken the laws of attractions.

Today
It could be at its finest
Yet, I repeat yet
Finest is for the
Fine china’s that
We break at home
At proper perfection
For it is just the day’s perfection
Considered a mistake to break
The perfect shine

Haven’t we executed the perfect crime?

Knowing that
Today I was served
Reality on a silver platter
For it’s the only dish
Of pure gold ingredients
Brutally mined and
Gently handled.

Thus
Today is today
And tomorrow
Will be today
With a greater twist
As beautiful as
The just today has planned.
So...

LET LIVE, TODAY.
