Fight or flight?
I'm not a bird, so fight it is.
But, I fight with words
they hurt more
they stay, like parasites,
every little
syllable repeats on a loop
until you not I give up.
Fight me I dare you,
that childish rhyme
"Sticks and stones may
break my bones but
words will never hurt me"
Total *******,
a platitude given out by
elders that know words
hurt, take longer to heal
leave mental squeals
of pain.
******, alpha, grammar
Will break you mentally
will return at close of day to
torment you.
There are no monsters under the bed
they are in your head, planted by me.

Anger is an emotional response related to one's psychological interpretation of having been threatened.
Fractured glass shatters
each beam of light cast
through my windows at night
from the cars driving past
In the brief illumination
my pupils contract
blinded by light
I'm sent spiraling back
to a time when things
were simpler, not sad
when the glass was clean
not fractured and cracked
and a beam of light
that the moon did cast
stretched across the ceiling to
illuminate my eyes
as it did today
but it hurts
Because i'll never see it the same way.

When I look at you, I'm lost
I tumble down the rabbit hole into a world I have created
My own wonderland
Words escape me
I lose all sense of direction
But your arms pull me in to where I need to be
You send my mind to run circles around my head
My heartbeat crescendos when you look my way
I catch your gaze and I am entranced
In your presence time slows and everything feels like a dream
Your smile spreads light over hilltops and forests
Your words envelop the air and create an atmosphere all your own
The ocean envies the grace you carry when your hand reaches for mine
Colors swirl and dance on the winds you blow
You harbor my haven in your eyes
And I don't mind getting lost
You are my escape

         m.h.
you
are the cause
and the
effect

and letting go of you
would cause me
the greatest
displeasure

yet you would
still be the greatest
effect, I wish to not
remember.

Lost the key

I dance in desperate movements,
stepping on toes as I go
Spinning out of control as faces grimace in my wake,
changing scenery like mirrored ball illusions,
tiny reflective squares blinding as they move
Still you stare, questioning gazes,
not making eye contact
but sensing my heart through the song…
playing in steady repetition

Fingers in your ears for fear
that it might touch you
in rhythmic hypnosis, shining pendulums
swinging in reverse tempo, challenging these feelings
you hold but still can not admit the lyrics
Prideful walls of bricked fortitude
built around your emotions sing of
locked entryways and barred windows
and it seems I have lost the key

Misplaced along out of tune wavelengths
while pitchy corridors of doubt
fill in the shadows of this that I desire
Still I extend a hand, “would you care to dance?”
Dark eyes squint as you focus, looking beyond the bandstand,
finding mistakes of the past playing in three quarter time,
heading towards the stage door exit,
tapping your toe in cadence with the drummer
who now stops…along with the beat of my heart
i wish to unmeet you
         only to meet you again.
A good poem is like a good sandwich

the layers are the lines that if not ordered right
would not rhyme and you wouldn't take a bite

The toppings are the words
alone are insignificant
but together make something magnificent
so rich with hidden messages and meanings
another way to eat your feelings

The sauce is the bit added hesitantly
because you're not sure how it is connected
these flavours you've perfected
and you hope the pieces all add together
to make your piece of art for you to munch
your rhyming lunch
I'm hungry if you didn't guess haha..Anyone notice the bold?:)
2 HEARTS ENTWINED

With my words I softly speak,
kiss you gently upon your cheek.
I wipe your brow, you hold my hand,
our love was written, in the sand

I whisper sonnets,
declare to leave you never,
now we're in this both together.

Two comrades in a bitter war,
loving you like never before.
So as our fate is now defined,
as two become one,

I'm inclined..

to take you to that place,
soft and sweet,
two hearts entwined,
to make one beat.
