If we will be together, like
Together Together, she said,
How do you intend
To propose for marriage?

Well, I don't know, he said.
But I cannot be, desolately be
With a woman who chooses
Romance over mystery.*

As we stare at the stars.
We look at Jupiter and Mars.
I look at you, and you look at me.
I see again such wonderful beauty.
I get on one knee. and ask will you marry me.
You say YES with tears filling your eyes.
I put the ring on you'er finger,  and say what a surprise.
As the starlight dies, I kiss you ever so gently.
And i ask what will you'er mom think.
You reply "she will be happy i met a man like you".
this i how i  hope the proposal will go. lol
Time is just moments
seasons are so short,
May, June, July - into the stretching straining warm yawn of fall.
Then Detroit's long low hum of a winter.
Finances crashing into Needs and wants like waves, like the ocean.
Oceans of time, the gentle rhythm of regular mundanity
soon turns into later and we, weary traveler turn into causal observer.
"I miss you" turns into "what happened?"
life flies by in snapshots I don't see.
What shape my life might take if you, added like an ingredient in a stew not changing the exact nature of the recipe but enhancing the flavor.
but time. like seasons just...passes
I'm so sorry that it's been so long
Since I've written you a song.
I've been busy painting haze
And telling stories other ways.
Dedicated to anyone who has ever liked my poems. I have been focussed on canvass work lately. Eventually, my focus will change and I will start writing more frequently...But, I have not forgoten you.
I fell in love with her.
She has a soul as black
As death on a sabbath morning.
Her eyes are deeply set in the astral-plane that is her facade.
She is the captor of the attentions of many.
She is not without agenda.
Neither is she not without heartache,
For the sun that shines the brightest is always the first one to burn itself out.
Tawny windblown streaks are waving in the  lavander twilight, as her arms would move to hold the sky.
She draws me closer to her.
I alone can see inside her,
And her secrets, I help hide.
It does not matter
That she does not love me.
(more exercises in poetry to increase range of vocabulary and writing style...some people flex muscles...I gotta work with what I got! This one is romantic...kinda...not really. I think I'm writing some of these to help develope attributes for characters in my book, also- but the finished work is never as it starts. I don't yet know who all these people I'm writing about will become. But, I know they are not inherently victoms. They are strong, if they are not virtuous.)
Soak me in the city light,
let me be drenched in life
that could only be so vital
when fueled by a never-ending day.
Each bulb has a story,
of who walked beneath
and what transpired all those shining nights.
Let me add one more tale
to be written in neon light.

i called him my city
and so
before our door closed shut,
he asked me one thing
"it is nothing close to the countryside" i said
-filled with wretched souls and dingy structures
dusty air and noisy traffic
and yet;
ill always call it home"

I fall in love everyday.
Either on the bus,
Or on the subway.
