Sum It
And she started drifting slowly
away, as my hands slipped
and among the city of solitude
I stood estranged one more time
Only silence could save me
Only darkness was needed to heal me
there I stood like dusted statue
Still breathing, sometime gasping
lips sealed and eyes closed
My left palm over my eyes
Over irregular wet contours of my face

Things could get worse
Had I desired anything more
it was just love
it was only love
all I did was lose my heart

it was just love
and love it all was.

When all the magic is gone
we will crawl from checkpoint to checkpoint
with dull great white eyes
always hungry
always starving ourselves
gotta look good for the summer
when all the magic is gone
we will howl out for sacrifice
it’s shoe harvesting season
and you’ve gotta cop some of this crop
when all the magic is gone
the national anthem will change with top 100
and when the air is stale
the prophets and poets will be driven out of town
to test their mettle in uncaring wilderness
when the magic is gone
we will hail the president on bended knee - blindfolded
when the magic is gone
everything will be trending
and nobody will give a ****
so get your abra kadabras in now
you don’t know how much magic we have left

Someday.

A crisp fall night,
Evident by the gentle breeze,
The calming trees,
And the changing leaves,
Your chair slightly overlapping mine,
We look at each other,
Our subtle embrace grows slightly stronger at the dwindling fire,
as we try to make up for the heat that we are losing,
Your skin is ripe and mine is bruising,
From the pain of letting go,
I knew you wouldn't see the fall,
You were a somber metaphor of the dying fire,
Reaching for something more,
Something to keep you going,
But there was nothing,
The physical attachments of this world seem not to matter as much when the pain is so great,
Sometimes the best thing you can do is let go,
They always said if you love something let it go,
But how can I let you go,
When it is fall,
And my bed is cold.

My heart
skips
a beat
and my
fingertips
tingle
but my lips
manage
to whisper
"Do you want
to try again?"
With pleading eyes
I watch
your head spin,
while Love
and Logic dance.
Moments pass
without a sound,
but your wide eyes
answer my plea.
And just like that,
I can breathe.
Originally, this was written in past tense, but I felt it was more powerful in present. :-) Recent inspiration has put me in a writing mood again. (Yay!)
Let me know what you think!!

The memory of you still exists in my mind,
three years, two girlfriends, and a thousand bottles later.
The way i look for your eyes in a crowd is unsettling,
searching each face as they walk by in their own quiet parallel universe,
unaware of the longing for the comfort of your soft voice and gentle touch.
I look for you because you still are the one,
the one who suffered with me without question and saved me when i was in need.
Salvation was in large supply.
Redemption was a certainly familiar entity.
The road to your heart was a unpaved trail through the wilderness of time and space.
Let it be the one i stay on till the end.

Night and Day

You leave a hint of glory in your absence.
You really don't know, do you?
You shine with a aura bright like the sun
Leaving in your wake the darkness of night
Like the longing the night does to become day, I need you to soothe my longing for your warm breath on my neck
Like the certainty that is involved with the changing of the winter winds, I need the absoluteness of your fingers intertwined in mine
You are a star, glowing bright and vibrant
I am the cold winter night,  the darkness is what nightmares are made of.
Please let me bear your absence for I am willing to endure the night to watch it turn to day.

A Kiss

A simple kiss,
Is all I need,
To send me into complete and utter bliss.

Your soft lips pressed against mine,
Would be heaven to feel,
To have it again would be divine.

Your tender touch, soft as velvet,
Will stop the hands of time.
Your smile, brighter than the sun,
Will be my only sign.

To ask these things of you,
As a small request,
I beg only of your kiss,
To send me to my beloved bliss.
