Every night before I leave,
A parting kiss before we sleep.

Murmured words in my ear,
I repeat my question so you'll hear...

Will I see you tomorrow baby?
Always the same answer..."if you're lucky."

And I always am.

What's mine is yours
But you can give it back
You've seen my soul
But you spot the cracks
You touched my heart
And complained when it turned black
Under the weight of it all
That's when we fell apart.

I gave it all
But I always kept my walls built high
So you can't get through
And see what is in my mind
You told me you loved me
Then complained when the glass smashed
Under the influence
That's when we knew it wouldn't last.

Turn off the light
But I was always so restless
You pulled me close
But I just wanted to give you space
Cause you don't need me
I just make this harder
Goodnight darling
Tonight we will put this to bed then.
I met a girl today.
It was the first time we've ever met.

Our conversations were deep,
And soon we found ourselves talking about our pasts.

And she asked me:
"Have you ever been in love? Because I've loved people and people have loved me, but I don't think I've ever really been in love."

I just sat there.
Thoughts of us came pouring in my mind,
Soon it showed out my eyes as well.

She asked me:
"What's wrong? Are you okay?"

I looked up at her,
and answered her question with one word:
Yes.

And she understood exactly what I had to have been thinking about.

Soon after she asked:
"Does it hurt? You know..thinking about her?"
I responded with a simple: "**** yes."

What else could I have said?
It was the truth.

We met each other for the first time,
And the whole ******* time I was thinking about when it was you and I meeting for the first time.

There is a voicemail
Saved on my cellphone

Sixteen seconds
Of what used to be

I reach for your voice
When I cannot sleep

I press repeat, repeat, repeat
Reliving brief moments

A part of me thinks
You've saved my voice

That you reach for me
Like your arms did previously

But in your eyes, there is no one lovelier than she
Two bodies intertwine beneath your sheets

You're making memories
While I'm reliving

Moments of when you loved me
For WY.
For the voicemail I thought I deleted.

"Hey, Allyson, this is me... just... worrying about you... when... please, just call me back. Alright, bye."

I can't decide
If I want my hand around your waist
Or around your neck.

Not much of a poet
but with you I am an avalanche of words
waiting to be written in paper
and you just sit there,
unaware of the effect
you have on my spine.

You talked about the weather
and I am awed on the rarity that a
topic as mundane as the weather
can stimulate my already
shabby senses.

I wanted the warmth from your lips,
But then I realized they burn

maybe, just maybe
if I die tonight
you'll wake up
missing my soul
and not my remains

Ive always felt weird,
that I so easily detach myself
from the the company of others.
But now I know
I have been loved,
then forgotten and hurt,
to many times
for me to care about you
after you leave now.
