I am nothing
more than a reflection
that has animated itself over the water’s surface

But the picture is so much clearer

like water
I poured myself into her until she was overflowing at the brim

like reinforced steel
I bridged my heart to hers and welded myself to her soul

like the sun
I filled myself with light to cover her darkness

like a blanket
I shielded her from the harsh world underneath the covers

like magnets
I orbited her aura until we inevitably collided

like a seed
I felt myself growing up from her

Then, like an idiot
I could tell she felt nothing.

With iron in our blood and water in our eyes
It’s hard to explain why death we cannot defy

Because the metal that’s made us is just rearranged dirt and dust
As we as a society are ****** forward by scientific wanderlust

Perpetual drive to figure out what is human while forgetting to be a person
But the human condition worsens as we evolve to a certain urban version

A claimed advanced people with brain and brawns for power
It becomes easy to forget nature’s showers; the trees and flowers

Never forget your origins. Never forget where you come from
The Earth that made you isn't just a drum for you to beat with your thumb

With iron in our blood and water in our eyes
We lose our elemental touch as the world continues to cry

I carry a white noodle bowl,
carefully up to my chin.
I smile as my nose catches,
the steam so grey and thin.

I set the bowl down gently,
Because it was too hot.
and take this time to ponder,
The noodles I have got.

A small carrot captain,
rides his vessel south.
But the spoony seas are violent,
and bring him to my mouth.

Legions of green sprouts,
are armed and at the ready.
But their base was built on broth,
and therefore is unsteady.

A scallion sergeant paces,
He’s timid and afraid.
And hopelessly fell in love with,
A mushroom mermaid.

The brothy land changes,
As beef enters the scene.
And to the broccoli scouts,
this meat is only mean.

Finally the egg,
who knows he’s the best.
Will wander around the edges,
till he decides to rest.

The dinner’s duty done
I tilt the ocean east
And drain the sea of veggies
into the belly of the beast

I take the styrofoam bowl.
And poke a hole in its side.
The bowl is now found empty
All my friends have died.

Late autumn air
wanders
through the window.

A coffee ***
clicks
and allures me awake.

The song sparrow
serenades
the sun skyward.

A stereo light
vectors
out to reach my eyes.

And the faint
patter
of rain echos against the glass

I am awake

The moon’s fingernail
pushed over the celestial dark fluid
that overflowed nightly.

The midnight blurred
my flattened, forgotten universe’s
center rather greedily.

The world ended
at the edge of my car’s windshield and
moved forward quietly.

From the highway
the faint heartbeat of Kansas
throbbed two-dimensionally.

Her heart cavity
collapsed under the infinite stretch of sky
and pulsed irregularly.

The fall of Atlas
forced all the beauties of the world to be
buried subsurface perfectly.

But my mind spitefully imagines mountains

dew drops
balance
between the pull of gravity below and the suns warming light.

the drops
hang
systolically pressurized into a mist that clouds the horizon for a few early hours.

they then
accend
to hold themselves as cotton quilts that intermittently blanket the kansas sky.

the clouds
contemplate
the heliocentric allure and draw themselves up from out the atmosphere.

waters gift
departs
To rise through the celestial heavens and eclipse themselves into the void-stained rapids.

were left
dehydrated
scratching at the surface for a taste of nothing and everything.

present humanity
falls
as the water rises, up and up until the world shrivels up just as quickly as it was inflated.
