How long before you see it
You have spent years occupying that ringside seat
Observing everyone of my victories and every defeat
Every step towards each foe collated with incinerating heat
every move in clear detail down to the faintest heartbeat
You've been there for it all
And yet you find it quite the feat
To understand that I want you in this ring with me
In here with me where the fight is thickest and no longer in the stands with the on looking fleet
In here where you and I together can face anything...throwing synchronized punches as potent as concrete
In here where your voice and your touch can immediately heal me back to my feet
Your effects have me standing even taller and more graceful than the most slender athlete

I want you ms. Anonymous
My princess, my queen, my everything
At the end of our bout
With all our foes on their knees
Our hands will be raised as the victors
With the entire ring becoming ours doing as we please
And as a symbol of our fight, and the obstacles we beat
I'll place upon your finger a ring...
Our love finally complete
The concept of this verse is to share a different outlook on relationships and highlight the importance of teamwork while working towards the ultimate goal of growth. My decision to expose the challenges before illustrating signs of growth is absolutely intentional and telling. Growth does not surface without fighting through a few uninvited obstacles. I found myself wishing for growth in my relationships while never willing to fight through anything. The more we are able to visualize relationships as a tag-team boxing match where teamwork and communication skills are incredibly pivotal, the more knockouts we will be able to deliver. ..."throwing SYNCHRONIZED punches as potent as concrete".
People like me
Those tired of the act
******* is the only required skill and that's a sad fact
We've come to realize that life is a chess board filled with too many pawns and not enough knights
A place with too many battles to fight
Too many fears during the night
So many obstacles in sight
Simply too many to write

But onward we press into the light
Well aware and cognizant of our birthright
As our brothers keeper so together we must unite
That sense of duty we must reignite
Not minding how many times we must recite these words of revolution outright
Because the trajectory of this generation we must at all costs rewrite

So tonight
I not only disinvite
But to my greater pleasure I indict
Discord and strife
For tonight they must take their flight
Against them I incite
An excommunication ban of the greatest height
Because only after their departure can we begin to make things right
Bringing ourselves out of darkness and into a future so bright
A so marvelous light
With everyone forthright
The air ringing with delight and hearts so contrite...
A future like this would truly excite
It has honestly been a while since I've ventured this deeply into the inner recesses of my jumbled mind.
Reason being that I have become ****** into the popular misconception that only grand ideas and realizations deserve note worthiness.

However, what always seems to escape our recollection is the grace that often lies within simplicity.
Take happiness for example; I've always wondered what happiness would look like if we were to bestow upon it a physical form.

The Shape of happiness might resemble glass...Simplicity in plain sight
Though you don't usually notice it, it's still definitely there...
You merely have to change your Point of view slightly and that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
I doubt that anything could argue its own existence more eloquently...
This piece begins by an admission of neglecting my mind for a period of time. I began asking myself why. Why nothing "wow"ed me anymore. Why nature was no longer beautiful. Why a gorgeous full moon was no longer a sight to behold and stars were blending in with the lit skyscrapers above.
The world had somehow ****** me into thinking that in only big and grand things could inspiration and happiness be found. But what about nature? An ever constant presence. Even while undergoing four cycles of change, its fundamental charisma remains the same. Always there to uplift and bring us together. What about the moon? The lamp of all lamps. A consistent reminder of community between those who share its shine. And must we mention the stars? Galaxies far away and yet obvious in our skies. Each the piece of a bigger constellation which tells a whole new story passed down for generations. When we start to think about the world around us for what it is, so much can be revealed. We start to make connections that were staring us in the face all along. We just spoke of nature, the moon and the stars...while probably failing to realize that all three elements serve as a reminder for consistency through family and community.
Many of us are still so lost...asking where all these values have gone while failing to realize they exist all around us. We "...merely have to change our point of view slightly..." and unprecedented grace can be found in your backyard as opposed to a completely different continent.
This feeling
Seeming so novice to me
And yet not truly, noticing the triggered nostalgia
I haven’t felt this in some time
The list of telltale signs
I remember
As distinctly as one recognizes wine
Harvested from fine red vines
Oh so succulently divine
mind starts to race with intel gathered by the eyes
already plotting a million ways to make you mine

But how could “Love”…
a word so heavy in weight
A word heavy enough
to scare the boldest warrior straight
An emotion experience had brought me to hate
Be the one powerful enough to recreate?
Who could relate?

but now Wisdom sits clearly before me and screams
“Letting go of love?
No no no!
Don’t you see son of Adam?
love is the lifeboat
The foam that displaces the perpetual sea of mediocrity
And keeps you all afloat
your heads above water and hearts above the clouds”

I see now friend
My approach had been so terribly fowl
Hunting for love as a hunter on the prowl
Charging at her with a gun and a growl
And eventually leaving disappointed
Much like Elmer Fudd with the heavy scowl

I see now friend
Art is such divine beauty
And I see that Love itself is art in it's purest form
Because art isn't about survival
But rather transcendence
Rising above and being more

So yes
Let the telltale signs lead me
Let the vines tugging at my heart pull on
For no longer will I hide from love
No longer will I cower away a subservient slave from a cruel and painful master

I tread forward with hands in outstretched fashion
eager to hold and embrace passion
Eager to take while giving back in expansion
Eager to share my life in a squalor or a mansion
Eager to teach and never to sanction
Eager to engage in all the same actions
Eager to easily transcend attraction
To the point where my “other half” isn’t just another fraction

Eager to forego all other distractions
Because only in you can i find true satisfaction
Treading forward; carefully but surely...
Eager to see my head above water
And my heart, far above the clouds
