kept your hands under my back
i brought my legs up to the surface
you said to keep my breathing steady
i was already feeling nervous
i knew i could be fine
if i wanted, on my own
but i would drown for an excuse
to have you never let me go
After you're sixty-five,
you don't get birthdays
you get death threats,

when all bets are side bets.

Erika
i spend my days
pouring myself into the cups of others

only to find that
when it’s time for myself
to take a sip

all that’s left
in my cup
is the remainder of a girl
who gave too much
self care is extremely important. most days I fight my depression by putting smiles onto others faces, but forgetting about my once bright smile.

i'm so blunt
you could smoke
my truth.
Age

it's that an ancient can be the most ignorant
and a teen can be the one who's wise.
