She Writes
I’d rather write than speak
My pen is always responsive
My ink doesn’t judge my mistakes
My paper doesn’t argue
My lines never cross me
My sentences never disappoint
And my words will never leave me

smokey basil
i let your hand go, softly,

and

we parted our
separate ways.

the tracing in the sand
was washed away by
the foamy edges
of the gentle waves.

the driftwood
was swept out by
the misty tide
and off the shore

away from the
salty coast,
into the eternal,
pristine sea.

the violin solo was
carried by the breeze
and the tubas dove
deeper into their octave

the final breath of your name
touched my tongue,
and it was our
final goodbye.

can we at least agree that what started
as a cartesian mind-body duality
complex, has suddenly become
a dichotomy, a ghetto for the mind
and a themepark for the body...
                      notably?
i still think it would be worthwhile
to look into producing gym electricity
by modifying treadmills
so that the hamsters could give back
something a field or an endless
        chess board of slabbed concrete
effortlessly provides.

You aren't here anymore
and it's tearing me apart.
You were the one who showed me my wings,
you gave me reasons to keep going.
You told me to keep writing.
So I will write for you.
Thank you
for showing me that I am worth saving.
My counselor past away last week and all I want to do is talk to her about my loss but I can't. She was so amazing and good to me.
