Falling into the

different paradise
Samantha Cunha Mar 2020
My withering lover,
our paradise seems
so distant with each
passing day.

Your paradise
shines dark blue
and entangles you
in the trappings
of your mind

My paradise shines
bright blue
and shines through
the stars in the sky
to reach the divine

Oh withering love,
our paradise
looks so different
with each passing day.

There is a storm
before the calm
a dark night of
the soul before
the rebirth.

There is destruction
before growth

before eternal love
can blossom fully
amongst the withered
roses of pains past,

the sharpest of thorns.

There is a new dawn
on the horizon,
can't you feel it?

Hour by hour my

into a toxic potion

infinite desires
cross my mind

My eyes set in stone
on the daybreak dream

for me to escape

azure blue, azure blue

The night

does to a soul

I love all the places
forgotten, where
the crevices reveal
an ancient truth in
between
the cob webbed lined
artifacts of time past
and time present
melting together
as one

I love all the places
forgotten
where the souls
haunt the dimly
lit hallways of the
dive bar with vermillion
booths, and sacred
gold mirrors on Sunset
and vine

I love all the people
forgotten whom
held a dream
& lost it in
the evading daydream
with stories to tell
of time past
and time present
merging as one

I love all the places
and people forgotten
for so am I

Drips slowly

Musky stream

Light & airy

Dizzying dream

Time

Ceases to exist

With this twisted

Fate

Purity is amiss

Logical thoughts

Dissolve like mist

Sunken eyed glaze

Clenching of the fist

China white

& Heart of black

Lay me gently

Into a bed of roses

Then let the thorn

Cut me deep

Blurry haze

Toss & turn

Erratic sleep

Sober somber

Is no longer

Mind of wit

In a fit

For sober somber

shining so brightly, to remind me
to dream a little more
dream a little wilder
the stars, illuminating
my darkness and exploding into
a million small pieces, reminding me
of the beauty in chaos
I am thankful for it all,
I dance once more
around the revolving sun
and bless my mind

I found him in the dark
alley on a lonesome
Wednesday night by the East river
Drinkin beer with his friends from
Forever
the boys who drink out of a
Paper brown bag and smoke parliaments
on their stoop until the night turns to day
And they can’t fill their minds
With liquor anymore, so instead
They take the metro down to work
Well, I felt like in that moment
He was exactly who I needed him to be
He made me feel alive
and electric
And bought me beer
until the bartender said
"no more"
We kissed until
My mouth turned
blue
he never let me out of his sight
cause he knew if he did, I may never return
i laid on him like nothing else mattered
It was only us in the red booth in the back
Of the dive bar
it felt like 1985
He read me poetry
and lit a joint
I said I don’t smoke
But I made an exception
His eyes lit up the entire room
When morning came,
I knew we wouldn’t feel the same
When the sun rises
And the liquor dries
It never feels the

From an all black dream

Noir night

You’re touching me

My palms

Sweaty

Your breathing

Heavy

My throat

Constricts

When Words

Of halt

Try to

Flow out

These words

Don’t

Echo out

As still as can be

Signals

You will soon

Unprison me

But how free can one be
