The feeling of lonely expat workers in Saudi, away from family for months together. Every passing day reduces the life span by a day, but every passing day brings the vacation nearer by a day. Experience of a person before, during, and after the vacation.

It was a chance meeting, like a melody from a distant chime

We had met decades before, and now looks like life’s clime

Childhood memories flood back like gentle rain.

Talked about friends, classmates twain

The glitter in your eyes spoke about the bygone days

Spake about school days, when we are at lives frays

Good old school days, forever cherished,

In our hearts and minds, they'll never perish,

In a few minutes of talks, we spoke volumes

Speaking about friends, increased our lives cumes

It was a great moment, hope to meet others coincidentally

If not possible in any function, but sure virtually
Met school mate after decades

The land of desert, the land of brown
In miles and miles of sand, everything drown
The azure sky, clear without clouds, all the time
for the parched soul, its hope and pine
tales are woven in the sand
are timeless fables of this land
the blowing winds shift the dune
in a harsh desert, no one is immune
it is a world away from the world
its lovely tranquility is better than gold
Desert though looks dry and parched, but its people are full of life and emotions

Me, and my friends together, four,
Went for RD selection, to increase the score.
Had dreams, to participate in the Republic Day parade,
Before leaving home, just had a little jam and bread.
Late Noon, after the selection process,
Planned to go home, dreaming about success.
We all reached, where the bicycles were parked,
As my friend reached his pocket, the panic sparked.
Unfortunately, my friend had lost his bike keys,
In despair, searched all the pants and jerseys.
Had no spare key, but we got suggestions galore,
We tried everything, used all the tricks and lore.
A mate of mine came with a wise option,
To carry the bike in turns, was the plan of action.
We marched back home, with the bike on our shoulders,
The crowd followed as we crossed parks and boulders.
Some thought it was a challenge and some wager,
We reached home, after a long stagger.
The real truth, my friend told the crowd,
They expressed disbelief, but still, we were proud.
With his bike safe, my friend reached his home,
Tired and sweaty, looked like we came from Nome.
During my college days, we friends had participated in Republic Day parade selection camp in Cubbon Park, Bangalore. We NCC cadets full of enthusiasm and energy were ready to go the extra mile. My friend lost the keys to his bicycle, and the events how we reached home without breaking open the lock.
