i hate giving poems titles
Meghan Apr 2021
I'm a tortured and battered soul
Oh, please, take me seriously;
don't laugh when I read a poem
Although the rhymes are simple,
can't you see my life is dreadful?
last week, I stubbed a toe on the dining-room chair, and the bruise is still aggravating-ly there.
Oh, Nietzsche was right: "God is dead" because God-****** my MacBook's not working again!

In the far hours of the night,
I stare at the ceiling
contemplating my life
the tugging nostalgia can never last,
but I cling to it -
Because I'm only ever happy in the past.
Because I'm all for that existential cringe
