Let your dreams run wild
with your eyes sealed tightly shut
and heart open wide

When did love
become lust?
When did hate
become trust?
When did lies
become real?
When did we
become dust?

Break my bones;
cut my throat.
Pull me open,
learn the ropes.

Breath me in;
taste the fear.
Shank my skin;
stand and cheer.

Kick my head;
let me bleed.
Unbolt my veins;
enjoy the read.

Gouge my eyes;
punch my face.
Wrap me up
in your embrace.
Get to know me like I do you; inside and out.

I can normally sit
and bleed words for hours
but lately when I cut
I can’t draw blood.
I guess they call this
writers block.

there should be
black there
is you

While you laid and begged the world to change your life, I walked with two broken legs to change mine.
Only you can change your life.

(And yes, I still write poetry)

We haven’t laughed in so long.
We haven’t looked like we used
to look at one another for as long
as I can remember - we haven’t really
looked at all, in fact. I don’t know how
to keep loving you when I don’t love
us.

Bring me back summers
with open fires and laughter,
until then, shiver.
