There was a flower, blossoming on the shoreline. Beholding the serenity of the seas and criticising the rise and fall of the indomitable tides.

It swayed in the balmy air and loathed the dusty storms.

It adored the sun's radiance and mourned the moon's norms.

It extolled the aesthetics and execrated the wrongs.

It denied the nectar but appreciated the honeycomb.

There was a peyote, living in the dreary sands. Mesmerized by the great dunes, standing like a tomb.

Relishing the scanty rains with much aplomb.

It grows its roots in the search of water,  many call it a coxcomb.

Such is the folk, unaware of the real beauty for so long!

                                    - Swasti Jain
She had the promise and  allure of butterflies on her sultry lips but it was the whispers heard from the dark corners of her heart he couldn't ignore
There was more beauty in her pain and flaws than what was easily seen on the outside of her skin
And it was there inside all of her broken pieces and scars
that he started to fall in love
Where have all the Unicorns gone ?
the sun is down, in the on and off rain

"They were here just a memory ago"

The night is on. . . in maximum
The stars hiding behind
Blankets of cold clouds
. . . have nothing to say

"The Unicorns never have to pay ,
just go on their way ,
grazing by the sea Eternity "

Inside I am gazing
into the emptiness of the night
Wondering ,"Where has all the magic gone ?"
. . . away on the backs of the Unicorns
Well I guess I knew it all along
You were singing to another's song
There was no harmony to our verse
So bad it couldn't be any worse

The words just never rhymed
Our life steps were out of time
And the way you always spared
The commitment was never there

Well like a bird without a nest
A rainbow without the rain
I see it all so clearly now
I see it through the pain

All the secrets you withheld
All those pretty little lies
Every question never answered
Another piece of me would die

Like a lake without it's water
A glacier without it's ice
You'd go dancing around the corner
To see who you could entice

So like a heart without it's lover
A sky without the blue
I'll guess I'll be moving on
Trying to forget about you

So like a bird without a nest
A rainbow without the rain
I'll be moving on
I think it's for the best
Did you see the swelling
The telling loss of control
I cut down the tree of reasoning
Then stood on the stump of withdrawal

The river of rage lies deep and calm
Beckons sinisterly it's coy call
"Come , come ,
fools , one and all .
Slowly all the questions

Turn into lingering reflections ;

And all the petty and the worthless

Have become the most precious .

and , "This we do in remembrance ,"
              "Lest we forget ,"
              "Takes place in eternity ,"
are but not as dramatic :

. . . . . . . . . only greater . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . .The acorn than the tree . . . . . .

Accept these seconds for what they are ,
       (Sunlight filtering through the
grates of life deep into the soul's eye)
