Thomas W Case
I am working the
kinks out of
my you tube
channel.

But, if you
search Thomas
W. Case on
you tube,
you can watch me
recite some of
my poetry.

Meanwhile,
autumn's feral winds
blow the beggars
from my mind.
I'm just a windmill's
dream, haunted by
a thousand empty
bottles.
***
I worked hard for
Everything I got
And didn’t get.

I’ve been cheated
By evil hands
And friendly ones
With their fingers crossed.

I looked for love
And found mostly
*** and degradation.

I reached for God
But my fingers
Were too slippery.

I think I may have already posted this.  If so, sorry.
WHY
Why can’t you be who you were?
I can’t say I like who you are
Or who you are so fast becoming.

Why can’t you be like before
When everything you tried succeeded
And you always had the right answer?

Why can’t you go back to that person
With wisdom and courage and smarts
And be someone that I could love?

About an old friend. (not my Hubby.)
The darkness comes in gentle waves
Like a mournful sea at ebb tide.
It comes in wisps like smokey sighs
Wafting from a deserted fire.

The darkness seeps into the spirit
Like a leaking, unattended faucet.
It arrives in plain brown wrapping
Tied with twisted, knotted string.

The darkness sings a plaintive tune
That echos in the vastness.
It weaves a heavy coverlet
That blankets any hope of light.

The darkness didn’t have to be
Why ever did I let it in

Still fighting sporadic depression.  But the sun still shines in my world.

Red wine on her lips
And a swift sway of her hips
He falls to one knee.
And he lives happily ever after

Trying my first haiku, hope I didn’t disappoint lol
Cheers to love ❤️

Wherever love
being build
And grow
I see it

Wherever kindness
Replaces
Grief and darkness
I see it

Wherever bridges
Being build
Instead of building walls
I see it

Wherever forgiveness
Stretching out her arms
Rather than holding
Onto grudges
That last for a lifetime
I see it

Wherever hope
Overcome defeat
Depression and misery
Rather on giving up
I see it

Wherever we can imagine
A better world that is yet to be
Rather than carry a heart
That can never find solace
I see it.

I see it
Whether
The world
See it
Or not.

Monsters

Brooke
When I was little
I was scared
Scared of the monsters living under my bed
I used to hide, under my blanket
Under my blanket, I was safe
The monsters couldn’t reach me under my blanket

My parents used to say
The monsters would go away
I would grow up and that then they would leave

But I grew up
And the monsters didn’t leave
Turns out my monsters, grew with me
Now instead of under my bed
The monsters live inside my head

So I hide, under my blanket
Where I think I am safe
Wondering if after all this time
My blanket can still keep the monsters at bay
-

imagine resting in a realm
where the universe is
draped by a single
shadow—

the sensation of cold sheets
lasting until one assimilates
the other–

leaving some sleeping,

and others just
passing through

I glimpse something fleeting
On the stage behind your eyes
A dancer leaping from wing to wing
Sure footed in one motion
Yet stumbling into the next

The corners of your lips flutter
Butterflies ready to take flight
Held hostage in your nets
Sitting in wait of their freedom
Yearning to show their colors
