The pledge
Langston Sep 2013
The nation is blinded
Its eyes covered by lack of knowledge and sympathy
Casting everyone into the pits of oppression
Minutes and hours go by and still hatred fills us
America is no longer the brave but the shell of what it once was
Congress can agree on nothing but to disagree
Is this the nation we once called America the free
Home of the brave is an injustice untruth
We're all cowards now to afraid of change to make difference
We tell people who they can love and how not to act from the color of pigment
America is no longer the land of liberty we judge so harshly hate binds us
Until that day we can raise hand in hand we're still the broken nation until we stand

The Strength of Love
Langston Sep 2013
Love is for the strong
The ones who can endure
The pain when the rain comes
The chill when the seasons change
The lust after the every growing world
The hardships are almost to much to bare
We try to love and curse at the world when we fail
We cast someone into the deepest pits of our lives
Letting them control us
and we barely realize
The pain that we have is caused by ourselves
You'd be a liar if you blamed someone else
Love is for the strong
and hate if for the weak
In which category would you be

A Tourmented Soul
Langston Sep 2013
The aches and pains of my heart
My soul is nearly dead
I pray to find relief something
Nothing comes to mind
I try desperately, trying desperately to find
The answers the cure
My tourmented soul is weak
My body grows tired
My tourmented soul
Alone in the silence

The Harm of Love
Langston Sep 2013
Love is hurt
The revolting feeling inside
The one that makes you believe your happy
How can you love a dream
A dream is all love is
Convincing you you're happy
Until it all ends
Your walls come crashing down
Your hope destroyed
You pray for a a way out
But you life is in turmoil
You cry more than you live
You live to cry
Your heart rips into peice
All for one feeling
The feeling of warmth
Of being kept
I ask you
Is it worth all that?

I love
with no passion
I care
with no sympathy
I dream
with no goals
I live
with no motives
I touch
with no feeling
I fight
with no honor
I race
with no end
I choose
with no decison
I hope
with no faith
I try
with no strength

from the altar
Langston Feb 2019
dear god
on my knees I cry
lord god I must ask why
shun me not I plea
do not let this cold world be the end of me
do not let my tears shower down in vain
lord god give me the answer to this pain
bless me with your touch your holy grace
from me take my demons let them fall from face
I have but humble ask I do not deserve
dear Jesus let not my prayers go unheard

his tongue takes no hostages
his soul is cold
his demons are out tonight
