My mom told me one day that she was surprised I had a personality
I'd always been so serious as a little girl
Head stuck in my books, shy and quiet as a single rain cloud all by itself

But I figured it out
I embraced my silly side
My rolling on the ground, wearing random objects on my head side
It's not really intelligent humor and sometimes it disappoints me
that I'm not funny

But it's me
I figured out another part of me

Now that's an accomplishment

It nearly took forever
Even as the wind shook
   The leaves from my bones.
     My teeth rattled-
From the cold words you left overturned.
          And my heart ached
The kind with a soul purpose.

Soon we'll grow apart
Like how the tree loses leaves
Smile 'til we say bye
Splitter splatter, pitter patter,  rain dance my cares away
Pitter patter, splitter splatter, on this cold and lonely day

Doing your tap dancing on the crisp Fall leaves
In your rhythm all my worries are relieved

Slapping out the tune on the old evergreen
The most beautiful sound I have ever seen

Splitter splatter, beating on my windowpane
Trying to break my heavy mental chain

Pitter patter, rapidly tapping on the glass
Trying to warn me, of shadows yet to be cast

Why do you keep turning my periods to ellipses?
