45° left, 60° right, 10° left.
The little wool hat moving,
like a combination lock.
The light hum of the soda machine,
a distinct mood-setting ambiance.
The neon sign buzzing away.
Smoke fills the small room,
A small room lit by smiles.
Teeth resembling little white salt-shakers,
poured over three orders of french fries,
like snow over a mountain.
Burgers bleeding yellow over red
are cradled carefully by bleach white wax paper.
A symphony of crinkles and rips,
accompanied by the smacking of lips and teeth,
in applause to the passing performance.
Laughing,
yelling,
cheering,
but never silence.
A ballroom dance of irises,
and then they leave our money.
I’ll pick up the tab next time though,
because burgers taste better when they’re free.

Everyone wants validation
Everyone wants someone to care
Everyone wants something to be wrong with them
But nothing is really there

Lies to create a substitute for purpose
There's enough people to form a convention
It's true some of those people have issues
But most use the words just to get attention

Part of me doesn't blame them
It's nice to be different
It's also nice to have people that care
In place of those who'd be indifferent

I just wish we'd stop glorifying the negative
And rewarding those who crave pity
I know it's unrealistic
But there is more positive ways to secure individual propinquity

I just think this cycle needs a change
We need a more a positive outlet
I know it's unrealistic
But let's change our mindsets

I hear a banging
What’s that about?
Please oh please
Cut that **** out

Don’t cry
Don’t whine
Don’t even start to pout
I just want you to please cut that **** out

Electric guitars sound from your room
I start to hear an emo teen shout
It’s 10:00
So cut that **** out

You’re being obnoxious
Well beyond a reasonable doubt
For the love of Christ
Cut that stupid **** out

Why are you shouting
Why are you screaming
I’m just going to walk out
But this is the last time I’m going to tell you
CUT THAT **** OUT
I love my siblings

I want some of that rom-com ****.
It seems like a good way to stay entertained.
I want you to drive me crazy.
Just as long as you don't leave me strained.

I want make out sessions at midnight.
And all your nagging too.
I want to be able to feel your smile through walls.
While I'm singing in the loo.

I want our first kiss to be cheesy as hell.
Maybe standing in the rain?
I want to always be on track.
Let us never de-rail our train.

I want to be your Adam *******.
I'll be your wedding singer.
You can bet I'll try to solve your problems.
Just call me Jerry Springer.

Thine *** boil
Thine *** tore
I walk the concrete path once more.

A cloud of gas
Thou smell of ***
A stomach churning galore

As the wind bloweth across my face
I admire the disgrace
As I revel in the *** doth tore

As thine buttocks fluttered
So did my stomach
As I thanketh the gods once more
Some girl farted in front of me at college today so I wrote about it.

The cup is empty for me
The cup is full for some
Somewhat filled for others
But mine remains empty
I want to scream and scrape at the surface of the cup
I want to pick and scratch at the metal
Tear away at the gilded exterior
I want to change the cup, but I can’t
My cup will always be the same
So I ask myself again.....
What’s the point of having a cup if you can't fill it?

If you look back in a 2014-17 high school yearbook you’ll see a picture of a hurricane of awkward moments ravaging a tiny coastal town called my self confidence.
My hands never knew where to rest and I couldn't keep eye contact for more than 5 minutes.
My eyes introduced themselves to their friend the floor every time someone looked my way.

Hi……..

Being awkward is only being able to muster up a “Hi….”
But then have the commitment to see out the next long moments of silence.
Being awkward is spending a lifetime learning how to jump into water
But not knowing how to swim.

Being awkward is saying “Thanks Mom”
To your sixth grade teacher
Being awkward is answering a number question with “Yes”

Being awkward is keeping your skeletons in your closet
Just for them to fall out when your mom cleans your room.
Being awkward is telling a fast food worker “You too”
After they tell you to enjoy your lunch

Being awkward is saying “I love you” after ordering pizza.
Just to realize the same person would be delivering it.
Being awkward is cancelling the debit card
That’s sitting in your pocket.

Being awkward is smiling nice for a picture
Just to look photoshopped in when it’s developed
Being awkward is thinking a million ways of avoiding a problem
And forgetting the one way to deal with it.

Being awkward is ___
Being awkward is remembering to do the second part of something
While forgetting to do the first.

Awkwardness is like a soda machine
Your money is your actions
The soda is your words
Your change is social q’s you don’t pick up on .
