As I hear the wind blow through the leaves of the ancient cottonwood trees.
And I watch the squirrels gather their nuts and prepare for the coming winter, I'm reminded of a few things that come softly in the whisper of the autumn wind for all to hear, if they listen.

Behind the poem is a poet, a lover, maybe a mother or a father. But most of all there is a human being. They feel, and they love. They have been overwrought with pain. And enraptured by Joy. They need  compassion and friendship and the human touch.
Tread lightly, for you tread upon
their hearts.
Lovers will always love. Haters will always hate. What a putrid existence to not have compassion for our fellow man. Me and my friend Luis are experimenting with turning poetry into music, please check out our projects on  https://www.bandlab.com/thomaswcase .

If we can restore vibrancy to color
stripping layers of time
to render art new
then can we lift sound particles
from memories
laid down decades before
dab a pen over words
slandering our hearts
eliminate critical noises
that chastise
til all we recognize
is a blank slate of static
where WE select
rhythm and pace

compliments      feeding our lives' diorama

                 beliefs              entangled
                                    between
                                              heartbeats

we become the artist
         the symphony playing remastered tunes

Stay Strong
                                  You are Valuable
And, most importantly,

           You Deserve to be Loved
If we can challenge old thoughts that debilitate our efforts and rewind time's old cassette tape to the very beginning, what dreams might we record, what promises to ourselves might we keep?  BE KIND TO YOUR MIND

Poetry is capturing a scene, an event, or a deed with your eyes,
Processing it in your mind,
Feeling it in your heart,
Letting go, and
Expressing it with your words.

Words don't take a rest
Rushing through your mind
Wanting to let go
Feelings bursting with
Newfound energy
Waiting to be released
To the unsuspecting world
Captivating  charming
Saddened words
Wanting a place
To land
But first they must
Be birthed
Happy Labor Day Do something good for yourself today share with family and friends Don't  think of work but you and yours

The slicing sting of the blade as it strokes my skin
Is not pain
But relief
From the raw bleeding within.

The draining drips of crimson as it drowns the floor
Is not unsettling
But reassuring
Compared the truest stomachache of all.
