Upturned umbrellas
Wind and rain
Missing raincoats
Take shelter and walk again

Scooting off through puddles
Splashing water on fellow motorists
Why should little kids have all the fun

Slippery mossy tiles
Earthworms, friends of the farmer
Not mine, touched them once
Never again, yikes

Heading back home
Yes it’s fun getting wet in the rain
Being a child again

So many pages
In this story
Unturned
A soft wind
Blows in the window
It whispers,
"Was never meant to be."
"Leave it alone..."
Time to heal, again
To wait and see,
Hope for better memories
Licking my wounds
Picking myself up
Heart hurt but not dead
It deserves love
Time to keep turning
To the next pages
And move forward

Called life
Long story short... just returned from a trip to meet a person for the first time that I was talking to and thought might be my future husband who lives 3,100 miles away.  We met, were not compatible in real life...very complicated but it was very different than our long distance communications/phone calls.  I spent the majority of my time alone on the trip...If I ever meet someone far away again, he will definitely have to fly to me first.  Such is life. I've never been happier to see my cats.

I watched "The Greatest Showman" on the airplane home.  This song has been haunting me constantly...even had my own little solo session in my apartment. :-)

I pulled the book off the shelf
ran my fingers down the spine
and then up again
feeling the magic bound within

I wept inside with tearful joy
my heart listening to the happy songs
from the pages waiting to be opened
read intently
gazed at endlessly
and finally turned

I held the book to my chest
hugged it tightly
as tightly as a mother
hugging a child
she thought lost to war
a husband hugging his wife
afraid if he let go
he would wake
and find his wife
had just been a dream
a child hugging everything
and anything

this book that is as much of my heart
as my hearts own flesh and blood
this book
the first book that taught me
life and love are so often the same thing
in all of their beauty and joy
all of their desperation and despair
love and life
pressed between
and printed on
the pages of this book

a good friend
a friend from long ago
an old friend
that will never grow old

the book opens
and my heart applauds
