Catty
 Sep 2023 Meep
Andrew Rueter
I caterwauled down the catwalk
meowing and howling
to drown out the call of the void
letting the cats now I'm a catch
to be a pet they could pet
but once I saw the miles to the aisle
I ran way down the runway
setting a manifest for the planet next
unable to be able
to sit still on the window sill
and take in what I've taken on
staring at stars or caring about cars
I pick a solitary peak to perch
and look down on more content creatures.

I screamed insanity
to set myself free
parked the UHaul
in the proper stall
checked in the hotel
in the city of angels
on our way to paradise
dreams are too fragile
she refused to go away
we drove another day.

Love is water
 Sep 2023 Meep

You’re slipping away from me. My instinct is to tighten my grip as much as I can. But I forget that love is water. The tighter I grip, the more it slips through my fingers.
I desperately want to be the one to make her happy, but I need to be ready to support her if I’m not that person. That’s what she would do
It was right there
A sweet taste of happiness
I got my creative spark back
Finally able to complete projects
But I guess I burned too bright
To much for my candle to handle
The nightmare returned
The sleepless nights
My mind in reverse of everyone else

But so quickly is that spark of energy
Drowned by a secret heavy weight I carry

I just want to wish this all a dream
A dream
I can wake from...

I was getting better
I promise I was...

The Sun will always shine
In our world
The sun will always shine
Inside of our hearts
The sun will always shine
In our lives
Everyday
And we will be out
Enjoying the sun

Longing

I long for the tender touch of your fingers against the flesh of mine
I ache to feel your warm embrace
I loathe the distance between us
Yet distance makes the heart grow fonder
Could I be fonder of you, my dear?

I used to read your poems
but lately you don't write
you're silent and aloof
you know that isn't right.
You can't close a door once opened
you can't abolish all your dreams
you're a poet of the heart
mustn't fall apart at the seams.
Say what you can in words
they speak the message true
spoken from the heart
the poems will see you through.
A hermit's not your style
a recluse, you are not
never give up writing
of things that you've been taught.
I used to read your poems
I'd read them once again
if you would send them out
(this one's from a poet friend)
