Weeping Willow
Krizel Grace Jun 2022
It's a postscript
That is yet to be found
Written on the back of an old photo
Along the edge, succinctly.

Buried six feet under where I lie
And it grows as it dies
Wilting over time—
A slow demise that is much more painful
Than a quick stab in the heart.

It's a goodbye without a beginning,
And failing without even trying
To keep it is a choice,
To confess it is a risk.

And as long as I see those eyes...
Still sparkling for that someone,
This thing would remain hidden
Under a willow tree and weep along its branches
Until completely forgotten.

Daisies in Winter
Krizel Grace Apr 2022
Let me embrace you
And melt the glaciers in you with my warmth
Sing you songs I orchestrate with the birds and trees
Dance with you as humid wind blows
Cry a little as rain sprinkles
Smell the petrichor that lingers
While feeling the sun kissing your skin just like the first time
Draw hopscotch on pavement
And laugh 'cause it's awfully done
Hear the subtle waves crashing against your feet
Feel the soft sand
As you follow the shallow footprints on the shore by some strangers...

Dearest Winter,

Let me sneak into your season
And I'd invite Spring to bloom daisies for you
Frostbites might take away my colors for a while
But I'd never regret losing hues if it would help you feel alive even once.

Masterpiece
Krizel Grace Apr 2022
I'm but a scattered pigment
On the wall, on the ceiling, on the floor
I stained everything I touch or hold
Neither you nor them could easily get a grasp
'Cause I'll just slip through your fingers' gap

I'm but a messy art
A masterpiece by a frustrated god.

Mourning Dew
Krizel Grace Mar 2022
And when great souls die
Ocean hums plangent hymn as it mourns
Cold breeze gently carries their ashes
Like scattered stars in the sky
One with the wind
Until they find their peace just below the horizon
Together with the sun where it sets
Giving us colorful sky to remember as they leave
And at first light
The sun rises with a breath of their legacy and name
While heavens may still cry for a little while
We'll sing endless elegies with the waves and tenuous clouds at night
For their true grave is in our hearts,
They'll forever be remembered with great admiration attached.

Silent Letters
Krizel Grace Mar 2022
I never intended this to be about you
But you fit every poem and prose that I write
My allegory lies within my gestures, stares, and smiles
And I hope you wouldn't read between the lines,
'Cause that would be the end and I'll pay the price.

For I'd rather be an empty letter in your word
Than be a sinner in their eyes.

Awaken
Krizel Grace Mar 2022
On a pedestal, you stand
With angels beside you playing trumpet and lyre
They'll sing hallelujah
When you smile and open your arms

And I'd say your name
A thousand times like a prayer before I sleep
Sing psalms on Sundays
Like a devotee, lifting my hands as I weep

But you were a mere god,
Pinnacled upon an altar that I made.
For a long time, I stayed
Only to be tricked and betrayed.

I once hummed along
With the angels as they sing
But an atheist came and uttered,
'Unvaried hymns are tiring.'

I told sunset about you
Krizel Grace Mar 2022
I feel it too well
Within the light touches and stares
Something bloomed in our hearts,
Innocent and bare

A perplexed sky is what we are
With a dash of rain and a bit of sun
Rainbow clouds in between our sighs
An overwhelming feeling as if we're flitting

For our hearts may ache a little
When someone else discovers
So in front of a mirror
I sat and gave them riddles

Before disgusted eyebrows raise
I waited for the sun to set and whisper
The unspoken words to be freed
But only to sunset I could concede.
Inspired by the Thai  BL series, I told sunset about you

Never Over You
Krizel Grace Mar 2022
This old love I've kept and held so dear,
All coming back, now that you're here.
I tried to paint it over with new love
But didn't last long,
Now it's peeling off, like old flaky paint on walls,
Revealing a hidden message underneath as they fall—

I still love you in secret, you know.

Confession
Krizel Grace Nov 2021
Residing within these lines,
Words and letters,
A hidden truth I covered with lies

Higher than the vaulted ceiling above me,
Flitting like those painted cherubs
Whom I whispered my plea

And it continues to grow like my faith
‘Cause I buried it well
Where my tears would fall and faint

Catching flying butterflies around
This sanctuary you own
Where I secretly dwelled when found

But I know I should free these butterflies
Lifting me up
Before their frail wings break and drop me where my expectations lie.

Blue
Krizel Grace Sep 2021
She loves irises, clear sky and the sea
The newly painted wall and butterfly pea flower tea

All those things are blue, so as his sparkling eyes
But those ocean eyes that she loved so much
They bear nothing but beautiful lies

He gave her a new shade of blue
Something that couldn't be seen
But could only be felt in the dead of winter

Her favorite color betrayed her
Too late when she knew.

Shadows on the Wall
Krizel Grace Sep 2021
Bustling crowd, honking cars
Sun rays kissed me one more time
And I see countless souls passing by,
Casting forlorn shadows on my skin

If only I could talk I would tell that girl,
You are beautiful, you should know
And to that guy who lost his job,
If only I have hands to pat his back.

But what could I do?
I'm just a wall in a busy street.

Silence
Krizel Grace Aug 2021
And then there's silence—
Cutting the wound deeper,
Lying in between the conflict of heart and mind.
There's a lot in your head but your heart carries the pain.
The pain of knowing no word could ever make things any better,

Not even 'sorry'.

Poet's Cycle
Krizel Grace Jul 2021
Thoughts in her mind
That couldn't be at ease,
They kept on wandering,
Some just wanted to cease.

They go
Round and round
And round as they please.

Until they found a sliver—an open wound.
They escaped as words,
Bleeding out from her soul.
Hoping to find refuge in paper and ink.

Dear You,
Krizel Grace Jul 2021
Aren't they pretty?

Those scars you hide underneath those blankets of metaphors
You wrapped them well with lovely words
Not to cover the ugly pain
But to tell the world,

How a sad story could be written
With such beautiful, aching words.

A Folklore
Krizel Grace Jul 2021
An untold tale hides behind her dreary eyes
Of how he betrayed her innocence with beautiful lies
Forlorn words attempting to escape at the tip of her tongue
But even her mouth bleeds his name out
Her tiny voice could reach nothing
They'll just say,
'She's just a girl so young'
Even she screams at the top of her lungs.

For her story is just another folklore you'll ever hear
It could be passed on but never believed.

Inspired by Lady Gaga actually... but this is the sad reality for every abused child/woman. And what makes it more tragic is that many abuse occurs within the family.

Lovely Soul
Krizel Grace Jul 2021
The intricate details of his soul
were long etched beyond the sky that I've known
Along with the stars at night,
And like the clouds above
Soft but sometimes fierce,
Like the light that pierces through leaves
The different colors of dawn
Painted in a way your attention will be drawn.

He's the light that falls on my skin
And I'd fall for him a thousand times more.

Out of Love
Krizel Grace Jun 2021
His empty rhetoric, I still take as gospel
On his lips a faux smile form
And I live for it, so pathetic—

For his eyes speak truths
Of which his mouth couldn't enunciate
He thinks it's kind, but I think it's cruel.

Autumn's Spell
Krizel Grace Jun 2021
Being that beauty
Simply as she breathes
Every leaf is shaking
She enchants them for real
Her touch makes them red,
Yellow, orange and brown
Now they can't help
But gracefully fall
Like ballerinas they dance
In musky-sweet air
A short moment of joy
Before they join their colleagues
In a pile of fallen leaves
Glowing under the sun.

Wilted Sonnets
Krizel Grace May 2021
I laid my sonnets in between pages of pain and doubts
In a chapter I wrote dearly in the past
About you and your smiles

Time went by
And they withered beautifully and still
I held them for so long
With a little hope
You'll  flip to the right page and see.
But at the time you finally found them
I already moved on
With a new flower bud
At the tip of my soul
This time not to be pressed and die
But to bloom outside dusty pages
Not for you or anyone
But for myself alone.

Misspelled Happiness
Krizel Grace Apr 2021
Over my scars, I wrote your name
You shrouded them and eased the pain
For me your embrace felt like home
A special place I thought I own.

But then the warmth I knew is fading
You are now a scar in the making
Every letter of your name I have written
They all pierced through my skin, now I'm bleeding.

A Cold Sunny Day
Krizel Grace Apr 2021
The warmth of your hands over my cheeks that now gone cold,
A dampened face,
From flowing river in my eyes.

These tears I couldn't wipe,
'Cause they're the only thing left,
For me to feel again the same warmth
from your hands that I long.

But looking at your face—
You seemed happy,
Lying among red roses and lilies.

You once told me to smile
But I only brought a bitter smile to wear,
For this cold sunny day.

Between the Stars and Me
Krizel Grace Dec 2020
Three words I've kept from youー
Words you'll never hear nor read
No one will know, not even these words I write
I just hope the moon didn't eavesdrop that night
Cause it's a secret I only told the stars.

Pushed Away
Krizel Grace Nov 2020
Numb of the pain from the thousand cuts all over her skin down to her bones
Blinded by the blood stained cloth tied around her head, covering her eyes.

He then came, with a beating heart on his palmー
A remedy he thought she needed
He bled to revive the polluted ocean submerging her soul.

But as she scream for oxygen to breathe,
She unconsciously dragged him below until he drowned beneath her tears

Too late for her to realize,
He devoured the night just to give her daylight.

Now I'll let the galaxy pour into me
Maybe then my heart will hear what it has to say.

Beautifully Written
Krizel Grace Nov 2020
She's written with crimson red blood,
Unceasingly flowing
From her invisible cuts.

Dressed with carefully picked enthralling wordsー
Seemingly fitting, seemingly perfect
But as you read between the lines,
You'll be wrapped with her gloomy wilting vines.

She could either be a riddle
And leave you bewildered,
Or she could be an answer
And shed light upon you.

For she's a sad poem
But beautifully written.

Wholeness Within
Krizel Grace Oct 2020
There he was, picking up your broken pieces. He said, 'You're a beautiful mess', so he tried to solve you like a jigsaw puzzle. But along the way he got confused, randomly placing pieces where he thought they would fit.

In the end, he did make you whole. Looked whole, at leastーfor most of the pieces were just forced into spaces they didn't actually belong. Out of frustration, he turned into an impatient child, scattered you into pieces again.

Then there you were, hoping he would attempt to reassemble you. But no, he did not. Instead, he just left. Leaving you exactly like how he found youーbroken.

Until one day you realized, he couldn't fix you. He couldn't make you whole again. He couldn't, because no one couldーno one but yourself.

At last, there you were, picking up your broken pieces. It would take time putting them back together again, but that's fine. You embraced yourself and said, 'Indeed, I'm a beautiful mess'.

Letting Go
Krizel Grace Oct 2020
I found you in your box,
Broken and cold
I tried to fix you
Did everything I could to help you,
But everything wasn't workingー
You just kept on cutting me until I bleed.

I know you didn't mean it
But your 'sorry' and' I love you' could not always serve as band-aids to cover my wounds.

I'm sorry I had to let you go,
But know that I genuinely loved you
I need to heal,
Before the wounds get deep
Because I don't want to remember you
As a scar I want to forget.

Krizel Grace Oct 2020
You built a golden castle in me
And said I am yours
You built it, just to break it
Now I'm falling  apart
Together with the love I thought was gold,
But turned out to be just pyrite.
I am now on the ground,
Trying to pick up my scattered pieces
Saving as much as I can
Before the cruel rain from your dark gloomy sky,
Completely wash them away.
I should reclaim my land,
That you once said was yours
And build my own castle,
With all these broken pieces of mine
And there, only true love will flourishー

You may take a look,
But you'll forever be uninvited.
