you keep running a losing race
with the white horse that gallops
inside of your veins

continually placing bets
but how long you'll last
is anyone guess

all the running you choose to do
out of the starting gate daily
is with needle and spoon

with those in the stands looking on
watching you on this muddy track
before your window is closed

running with your pack
of what started out
as all thoroughbreds

numb to the junk in the future you face
as the white horse in your veins
continues this losing race

polyratic
8 secs,
to terminate
the world that I knew

8 secs slow
only need a small few
to establish this curfew
next to his curfew

your God,
he saw you,
happy with your ways
his forgiveness lets you live life your way

did you ask for mine ?
just killing time ?
break time; the status
forget our timeline

but I'd rather you be happy
just a weakness I have
you get used to the pain
after this many steps in vain

this will keep you happy
fall in love with your sunshine and rays
. . . . . . . .
took me more than 8 secs that day
to remember better days

keep that glow in your voice
while I bleed tears for every dot on this page
I was never a child
I was always an ageing adult
Half chocolate
Half a middle aged twice-divorced man
Searching his memories
For the moment he departed from the school yard and built a life on the sand
Where his chocolate half melted in the heat of mid-day
And left him half a person
Half a puddle of sticky mess
Warning people
With signs and sirens
Not to slip on the part on him that got away

Colm
The universe puts her headphones on
And plays her favorite track
The raindrops in the meadow burst
And soak the earth
And with her feet up on the world
She smiles from ear to ear
And plays it back
What songs does the universe listen to? Is there a more beautiful sound than the rain falling in the secluded meadow. Truthfully, I don't know. But I do love the sound of these words as they roll off the tongue. YUPP!

BIG THANKS to everyone who liked, commented, and helped make this verse the Poem of the day (on 05/18/18). I really appreciate it! You can listen to me read this poem live on SoundCloud. Just follow the link and have an awesome day!

everything in life is changing
so how could we find
a stable answer
to a changing thing

there's so many layers of uncertainty
but what we can do
for sure
is live the best lives
we can
within our means
and be fearless
and loving
because we will be back
someday
after all the chaos and darkness
we will be back
a 27 year old stranger's wisdom

Surrender

I surrender to your current
take me under
if you will
I am yours
in every time line
forever
always
still.
I love you
When a stroke killed their own
A shadow from afar
Left a tiny gray spark
Kid hanging from his feet
Begging for mercy
Begging for life
Blood bursting out of his veins
While wings of murderer spread in delight
While his face, paralyzed with fear
And others crying in panic

His heart stopped beating
His lungs ran out of air
His body stopped fighting
And nobody tried to dare
When someone dies their thoughts
Die with them,
Their bones absorb their words-
After a summer others cease to remember,
We fade and then are gone.

Each person is replaced:
Vast cities shrink becoming grass-beaten mounds,
Shining cultures wither,
Their intricate palaces shatter,
Temples decay under interminable suns,
Religions flounder, sacrificed to time.

Philosophies expire like sunlight
When night falls, wise words unravel,
Tortured by inconsequence,
Decay dripping from each syllable
Like uncollected wind-driven *******
Running down a lonely street.

In the alley the dog howls,
Amongst the discarded boxes the
Raven sings.
