I lie awake remembering
as sunset's drawing near
of golden days far in the haze
of loving without fear
I lie awake remembering
your hands soft on mine
saying see that you love me
of having enough time
I lie awake remembering
when nights are filled with pain
us dancing in the sunrise
and singing in the rain
I lie awake remembering
how much I miss it all
the touch of you, the feel of you
I won't forget at all

The Ghosts Of Yesterday

Today I saw some fog rise up above a pond
It reminded me of a specter floating in a scary movie
It got me thinking of stuff that haunts us
I am haunted sometimes by, I should have done this
or I could have said that
or I should have done this better
The ghosts of yesterday can cloud our vision today
To live in regret is not a good way to live
We can let go of the past and our vision can be clearer
Things can get better and our emotional fog can lift away
Freeing us to have better days
Let us not be haunted by the ghosts of yesterday today
Instead, let us live in the present and live each day to it's fullest!

I hasten towards you,
Induced into some fit of self destruction;
Shouldn't I know better by now*?

If there is anything
That I could promise you
It would be my love
Until my days are through

Until you feel my breath
Leave my dying chest
The love I have for you
Would be the last thing left

And then when
I am dead and gone
I will have the wind
To carry my love on

To gently toss your hair
Plant kisses on your cheek
To let you know my dear
The wind is a caress from me
Tomorrow is mine and my wife's  32 year  anniversary...starting out early with the love poems.

Oh, my ******* puppy
Your tail moves faster than a guppy
And you put up with things we do
Like when we try to bathe you
We got you quite some years ago
And wow, you really did grow
And I love you, you hyper furball
Shedding, barking, annoyance and all
She might be 5 years old qnd 60 pounds, but she's still my little puppy.

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

on the court he'd remonstrate
about the call
he objected to the linesman's
placement of the ball

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

in tennis circles he had
a no good reputation
for engaging in
all manner of disputation

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that was what the brat
was heard to say

unsporting behaviour
he'd frequently show
other competitors didn't much
like the tenor of his bow

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

another of his ilk presently
applies the same guttersnipe stuff
he's a right royal smarty-pants
with his racquet's guff

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say
John McEnroe and Nick Kyrigos.

I fell in love,
Hopelessly and totally
Though society rejected me
And only love protected me
Like blessings from above,
I fell in love.

I truly knew
There never would ever be
Another lover just for me
That fit with me so perfectly
Exactly like a glove.,
Like you would do.

It’s not like in the fairy tales
It’s often up and sometimes down
But we get stronger I have found
When lifewinds blow our love around.
We learn to laugh and even cry
As the days of life go by.
We get back up if we fail,
And realize we didn’t die.

I didn’t fight.
I knew this feeling was for real.
I didn’t question how to feel.
I’d play the cards life would deal
I had a love no one could steal
And it was right.

It’s not like in the fairy tales
It’s often up and sometimes down
But we get stronger I have found
When lifewinds blow our love around.
We learn to laugh and even cry
As the days of life go by.
We get back up if we fail,
And realize we didn’t die.

I fell in love.
I recognized that I had found;
What never seemed to be around,
A love that makes my heart to pound.
I only needed this one shove.
I fell in love.
