Lawnmowers mowing
The familiar smell of grass
Leaves my nose sniffing

The lengths I'd go to hold you

The salt rust our bodies

A violin player

And the emperor should abdicate

The flags contort and distort

Writhing in the wind

Nations proud, lie

Humbled at their knees

What is done in the dark

I'm in a room of mirrors

They're each telling me something different
