Africa
nosipho khanyile Jul 2018
our destination is the journey
edged with culture
curved with meticulous attention
infested with corruption
fumigated with potential
waiting to reveal itself to the world
taking time to perfect itself
because like fine wine
we don't age, we mature
into something so different
refreshing the norms
creating a new era of dimensions
a relentless spirit
perfectly flawed
oh blooming flower
a tree known by its fruits
a shackled continent
waiting for the chains of judgement
to break
freeing the truth
this is africa

I'm losing you
nosipho khanyile Jul 2018
your own life was at the edge of chaos
when you centered me

everybody had deserted you
when you were there for me

you could barely stand on you own
when you stood up for me

all you wanted was to be loved
when you gave me love

you were selfless
and I was selfish

I've already lost you
but I hope this sorry finds you.
this one's to two of my friends. after doing some introspection, I've kind of found myself, made good friendships and I'm seeing life in a good light but in hindsight I realise that I've abandoned some good friends in the process. I'm scared to go back and find them because I don't know if I'll ever stop being self absorbed.

nosipho khanyile Jul 2018
I looked at society in the eye
and asked her
why she's so flawed.

she glared at me before saying that

I cannot antagonize her
when all she did was
give identity to a lost world

award goes to you for
making me believe
for a second that
my sexuality is a phase.

a stage that's passing

award goes to me
for being in tune
with my desires & feelings.

for not letting you get into my head
for appreciating that love has no

gender,colour,culture or phase.

When I started writing
nosipho khanyile Jul 2018
I was afraid to pick up the pen.

Afraid that my technicolours
would become a bruise in their eyes.

I thought what what intrinsic to me
would seem sadistic to them.

I was afraid
they would be oblivious to the glitches I showed them in society

I was afraid they wouldn't care..

I was wrong.

from energies that surround me.

as I process my technicolours
into somthing society will accept.

but sometimes
there are no words for my thoughts..

injustice has become the affirmation.
hesitation, passed down to each generation.
oblivious to how this is a cause of our own transgression; through temptation.
misleading us to our own damnation.
Crime has become a norm in South Africa and it has gone to an extent where we don't even look over our shoulders anymore but hope that when a crime comes about we still have our lives to keep. This poem not only highlights crime in my country, but the international rise in other issues such as school shootings, human trafficking, ****, sickness, hunger, mass killings- there are some issues which I haven't personally experienced in this list but am deeply moved by. This is a time to put our hope in the greater energies we believe in and not let the Enemy succeed.

nosipho khanyile Oct 2018
I met you today for the first time.

Again.

Noticed you when I locked eyes with a stranger.

I told myseld to refrain.

But if you promise not to hurt me this time,

I might give this one a try.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards

Take me,

Take me away.
Take me far away.
To a place
where love is the objective,
where making love is a respected  perspective.

Take me,

Take me far away.
To a place
where I cannot reach myself,
where rivers of hope in love meet at the margin of miracles.

Where everything works out.
Where all the seasons show up.

Then take me,
Take me to a garden;
Where a planted tree remains the only success I need,
Where soul is the only materialistic desire of greed.

Where we'll eat the forbidden fruits
And drink the sacred waters.

To a place where you can take me.

"I'm here for you"
nosipho khanyile Jul 2018
are you, really?

when you say I'm too sensitive
are you here for me
or the tough me you never saw in you

when you say I'm too quiet
are you here for me
or the rage in me you you found over active in you

when you say I make everything about me
are you here for me
or the introspection you desire

when you say my life is a mess
are you here for me
or the aligned energies in me you couldn't keep in place

when you say I don't give you enough attention
are you here for me
or are you here for you

Pragma - enduring love
nosipho khanyile Dec 2019
I looked into your eyes and never looked away.

Days without you were always the same,
a day was just
another day.

My mind without you became just another place-
an empty space
filled
with mornings that were just okay and would build
into nights that would never end in a haste.

I would recite our moments together.
Moments that became distant memories altogether.

Consoled
because if this was God-willed then at least you and I could be
forever.

She said change was good;

contrary to her life decisions-

every day

life continued the same way.

But she didn't know how things would change

After the day she decided
to stop changing herself.

After the day she decided
to stop tormenting herself.

After the day

she started to grow herself.

Believing herself.

Trusting herself; her emotions.

Loving what was, and is, and is to come.

And   from   that   day,

nothing was ever the same.

She draws me closer to her at night

somewhere in the milky way.

She circles around me
taking a deep look into my soul,

because she knows my soul will always be with her when this love affair with me, her and earth ends.

My hatred boils with every attempt to hurt

My fear fills the atmosphere at every attempt to hide my desires

But still,

My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me

My love spreads at every attempt to empty my darkness

My words escape my mind with every intent to be heard.

My heart heals itself, with every chance to live.

I remember sitting alone in a park.
My shoulders arced, I felt no peace.

The air was humid,
Clouds were gray.
I thought
at least the rain would put me at ease.

I whispered a short prayer-
the kind that was rushed and abrupt.

Then I asked God what mankind is that He was so mindful of us.

Sacrosanct- something that is considered to be too important to change or question.

Then the leaves belonging to the trees surrounding me all bumped one another
Whispering back in a christened voice

and suddenly

humanity became sacrosanct.

He heard me.

Black woman will go through racism, absent father, abuse by spouse and still shine.

She will protect with fierce love she has but only experienced from her own struggling mother.

She will teach love and forgiveness as if being victim to hate were foreign to her.

She will sweat

and cry

and bleed

then cover her wounds and continue being the pillar of this earth.

She is beautiful, despite being told she isn't.

She is God's creation.

She is you.
